Which whisky are you drinking and why someone else might enjoy it?

That letter looks a little ominous. You might need the whisky!

My favourite malt has always been The Macallan. I noticed that some posts are disappointed that bottles on the shelf no longer show age. It is possible to buy directly from the distillery different ages. My own weakness is the 12 year old sherry cask. Not everyday you understand!

Managed to scrounge a bottle of Bob Dylan’s whiskey. Will be road testing tonight:

Yes I’ve noticed that this is becoming quite a common thing. Not even mentioned in the small print just silent on the age.

Yes you can still buy Macallan 12 yr old, direct from distiller, Whisky Exchange and Waitrose are options to buy, seems to be more supermarkets are just offering non aged at a lower price point. The 12 yr old is a lovely dram.

Working from home and fancied something a bit tasty. Love the Octomore 9.1. Beautifully smooth for such a young Whisky but with such wonderful flavours and an fantastic finish which lasts.

Green Spot was apparently James Joyce’s favourite whiskey. Mine too!

Not really compatible with climbing/working out, so just a sip occasionally :relaxed:

It’s a good whisky but vastly overpriced. The 18 year old was a fantastic buy before the price shot through the roof

Ah the 18 year old. Fond memories but at £250 a bottle I never will get that nd5xs2.

@AlanP

Hi Alan,

Pleased to read that you’re chuffed with the Ben Bracken … but here’s the thing … my shout was for the Speyside (with the red label).

So where does that leave us?

I’ll certainly have a bash at the Highland, but would it be considered a wee bit cheeky to suggest to your daughter that she might just have bought you the wrong one? :innocent:

Anyhow, get yersel’ doon tae yon Lidl, an’ huv a go at ra Speyside.

You’re dead right Dave, she did get me the “wrong” one, but I have schooled her well in the arts of wines, spirits and beers. So rather than say anything, I just assumed the Highland malt was the one SHE wanted to buy me :grinning:. There’s plenty time for me to acquire the speyside, she’s got a good memory and very thoughtful. The post was more or less to let you know that you’d had a hand in it, so cheers again :+1:

Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition.

This is a new one on me, which I picked up this morning, and intend to have a wee taste later on.

Here’s the official blurb:

“Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition is a triple distilled Irish whiskey finished in craft stout-seasoned barrels. The result is a whiskey that features the signature smoothness of Jameson alongside additional notes of chocolate, coffee and butterscotch.”

Sounds intriguing. :crossed_fingers:

A change from my usual malts but not by much and at a higher price, the most I’ve paid for a bottle in fact but that’s because I bought it in Ireland. Can’t say I’ve any regrets about buying it, a thoroughly good drop.

I dug out Linn’s 40th anniversary CD compilation today for a listen, and was reminded that The Scottish Company had teamed with Highland Park to produce an LP12 made from whisky casks and a special edition malt whisky. Has anyone heard the former or tasted the latter?

I like “Highland Park” a lot, very good flavour. I believe it is Orkney’s only single malt.
It is often reduced in price at our major supermarkets for some reason?!
