Which wine are you drinking? Tell us about it

Oddly enough the kookaburra still just wanted meat.

And he’s enjoying the cricket as well.

I’ve been meaning to drink this for some time … but I wish I had waited a couple more years. It’s my only bottle so I’ll just enjoy it with a duck breast, followed by local cheese. It’s very smooth, almost velvety but with some fruit, blackberries rather than blackcurrants. Mellow tannins, subtle really, I wish I knew more about this wine.

Allegedly I still have 2 magnums left of this according to CellarTracker but I may have been lazy. Each bottle opened has been much loved. I have a case of 2006 still with the Wine Society and I am sure they will be equally enjoyable.

The estate only releases Rubicon when the vintage merits it and will declassify as Meerlust Red in off years. Still good wine and great value but when it is Rubicon it is an iconic wine.

Would be great to compare to other Stellenbosch BDX blends, such as Vilafonte and De Toren from same vintage.

Have a couple of bottles upstairs - but sadly rarely get the opportunity or justification .

But it’s a lovely wine

Very good viniculteur in my experience, I’ve been buying their ‘normal’ red for years now in annual trips down to the Auchan in Lille. They know they produce fine wine, as the prices have been going steadily up over the years. 2018 is an excellent year too, lucky man!

2019 Neudorf “Rosie’s Block” Chardonnay
Very young wine with light yellow colour. Tastes of white peach and vanilla, shortbread and honey. Finishes dry. Already the light oak, fruit and alcohol are integrated and delicious. Will go another 5-10 years easily.

A pretty good new age chardy IDAK , I drink it quite a bit

As you say still very young and will go the distance

Their top range chardy is an absolute cracker

I have a bottle of their top one, wrapped in tissue paper. Will leave if a few years . I think Neudorf and Kumeu river are great kiwi Chardonnay s and relatively inexpensive for their quality.

Fully agree IDAC

Plenty of other beauties out there also

The 2020 Neudorf is £47 here so not exactly inexpensive. How much in NZ/Aus, just out of interest?

Yeah sorry I forgot.

@thebadyogi I get it from the winery with free delivery for NZ$45 or £22.50 .

Is that the top range Home Block neudorf chardy you get for 45 quid , not “Rosie’s Block” ?

If so that’s ok as double that is say $90 , in $NZ dollars it’s $85, so bit of a premium for you

The 2020 Rosie’s Block gets rave reviews

@thebadyogi I should add that their 2019 entry level “Tiritiri” Chardonnay is $27 in NZ so ? £14ish in UK. It’s very good indeed.
