How many of these would you have spat?
For me, the number was zero.
Nice lineup, I like the ringer in the middle.
First bottle from this vintage and it is showing very well. When I first tried this Barbera from the 2095 vintage it was a revelation of flavour and sold the wines of Piemonte to me forever. Evolved in the glass into a well balanced and very smooth flavoured palate. Great stuff
Good to see you’re hard at it again Rod. We were in the Napa Valley a few years ago and had a great time. Travel safely.
I love Barbera d’Alba. In good hands it is rich and delicious . Vajra makes a good one to, especially the Superiore.

Organic CdR this evening with chicken and veg.
Lovely spice on the palette and perhaps some liquorice?
A rather fun evening with some friends as we celebrated being able to reduce our tax bill somewhat just by officially saying how committed my partner and I are committed to each other
Loads less fuss than this wedding lark.
The Krug was quite sublime. The Bonne Mares suffered from insufficient air to start but opened up beautifully given time. The VdC would have caused Jane Austen to write another novel. Chin chin!
Congratulations on you tax planning ceremony. We had one those a few years ago.
Congratulations on your commitment and it looks like you did it in style.
Congratulations.
This was a nice way to end a great week of wine education, albeit against a backdrop of unfathomable horror elsewhere in the world.
Domaine Gonon’s 2011 St Joseph which I had with a lovely sirloin this evening. Gonon is making the best St Joseph’s atm and this wine is just stunning. I have been buying Gonon since 2005 but it is going for silly money now. I bought this en primeur in 2013 for roughly £25 a bottle but the 2011 now goes for £240 a bottle!!! Unfortunately I can’t even afford en primeur Gonon now so shall just enjoy this while it lasts
Had great time at their vineyard a few years back, still make some nice reds.
