We are camping in Fleurie in September so I’m sure we will get to try some! This Brouilly came from Sainsbury’s in Dartmouth. We are travelling down via Sancerre. It’s going to be tough.
Bought some of 2016 from well known supermarket cellar who has just finished 20% off promotion. Lovely wine and to my palette preferable to Many French Pinot noir at similar or higher price.
I’ve just picked up a bottle of their Sauvignon blanc for my girlfriend’s upcoming birthday.
It was mentioned by Ronan, but so in passing that many may not have picked it up.
I loved the way that she dutifully spat out the wines she was tasting, until she got to the Lafite when she just couldn’t quite do that and swallowed it. She is such an interesting person.

Domaine de Tunnel Marsanne St Péray 2014
Mature Marsanne from the Northern Rhone. Not much of a nose, quite a rich slightly oily texture. Some apricot and minty notes with a mineral finish that counterbalances the richness. Almost like an oily textured Chablis. Very good.
Their Shiraz is also very good.
Yes , I’ve got some of the Cornas and St Joseph as well. Great producer, and not so famous as Clape or Guigal, so not too expensive.
Langmeil Hangin’ Snakes 2016 Shiraz Viognier
This is a delicious take on Syrah co-fermented some viognier like the French do. Medium to dark red colour. Nose of dark raspberries and leather. Very plush palate, mouth filling and rich tasting of dark fruit like red plums with spicy notes and a light delicate mildly tannic finish. Really going to enjoy this tonight with some home made tandoori chicken. Thanks @Pete_the_painter. Must try some more of Langmeils offerings as this lovely wine is their entry level red.
Enjoy. Lovely wines, might crack a bottle myself tonight.
I must try this wine. I love the way Australian Riesling’s go so well with Asian food. NZ Riesling seem to be more floral and harder to match with food.
It’s a really nice drink, not sure if goes with the pasta but it’s that good I don’t care.
Yesterday’s wines covering lunch and dinner. First time eating out since March at our local wine merchant and deli bar. After a nice glass of fizz I grabbed the Eben Sadie Skerpioen 2014 off the shelf. Simply singing! Blend of palomino and chenin that works very well. Very fresh and vibrant. Brought remainder of the bottle home for our aperitif and moved into Bouchard Pere et Fils Chapelle Chambertin GC 2005. Very good value from TWS and drinking nicely. Not a bad Saturday night!
Wow, for a moment reading the early sentences I thought your local wine bar had mature fine vintage GC burgundy, and was going to ask where it was. Sounds like a great day.
Manley 2009 Pinotage.
A gift from SWMBO, notes else where talk about a jammy wine so I thought it would go with duck breast. Not bad at all.
It would not be my first choice, but with good bottle age it has character: perhaps a hint of tabacco on the nose, with some fruit, blackberries?, on the palate. It has quite a long finish but the tannins, which were evident when first opened, have mellowed.
Would be nice. Mind you if they have GC Burg for sale could open it. But unlikely to find something ready to pour! Though there are some odds and ends that have sat unloved on shelves for a few years. Have picked up a few from time to time.
Saint Peray blanc and organic cote du Rhone from Jean luc Colombo
Little ageing on blanc marsanne/rousanne blend, red is organic 3 grapes movedre, Syrah, Grenache organic lovely vintage
I treated myself to half a case of this amazing sherry. This is so delicious; I had a glass with smoked salmon (Alaskan Sockeye) and smoked eel (Severn & Wye Smokery). Its nose, the flor, is as you might expect but with a freshness and intensity that, if you love sherry, will surprise you. It has great length on the palate, and I expect it would go well with almonds.
It’s about twice the price of normal fino, but worth it. I bought mine from TWS but here is another source:
This is the first time I have a White Pinot Noir, it comes from Marche region in Italy, more precisely close to Pesaro, 1km away from the east coast, have been to this region a few times, very nice region in Italy though not famous for wine.
The juice is barrel fermented in barriques, with malolactic fermentation, and then aged 12 months in French oak barrel.
The wine is not a blend, but 100% Pinot Noir,
Very nice wine with a nice pale yellow colour in the glass.
If this is the first time you’ve had a white Pinot Noir, then I advance that you do not reward yourself, - especially in these apocalyptic times - with anywhere near enough Champagne (see Ant’s post earlier)!
