I had a demo today of the Wilson Tunetot stand mount speakers at my local dealers NSC 200 was the source/pre and I believe NAP 300 mono power amp x2. I was just wondering if anyone has these speakers at home and if they could please share their experiences.
I have a home demo booked next Tuesday for a week so I can try it in my own system, NDS, NAC 552/NAP500.
I had originally gone in to listen to a pair of Audiovector R5 Arrete Speakers but was blown away by the Wilson’s, I still cannot believe the sound coming from these tiny speakers.
Sorry no experience of them but I’ve read a number of reviews where they’ve been praised as outstandingly good. I’m sure you’re aware of the reputation of Wilson speakers. If I was in the market for small speakers and I had the cash they would be top of my list to audition. Incidentally from the reviews it appears that the dedicated stands or isolation bases make a very significant improvement to performance. They are both costly but necessary to get the best from them it appears. Do report back on your home trial if you would be so kind.
I have had TTs for about 5 years mounted on Wilson dedicated stands and isobases. Never regretted the investment. They punch well above their weight, look great but are pricey for sure. I have them in my study delivering from Nagra Classic pre/power combo, NDX2, nDAC, CDX2, RegaP8 (with Vertere Phono). The main boxes are on Naim Fraim. Cables are Vertere and Superlumina. I’m sure your home trial will whet your appetite for more as long as they are correctly positioned - they are not “plonk and play” and need some tweaking to really show you their best. I also demoed the Sabrina’s with the Tunetots, as you would imagine they were better but I don’t think I can justify the £10K ish price difference I have B&W 803 D at the moment and listening to them last night they sounded a bit dull and less detailed against the Wilson’s from memory. If I go ahead and purchase it will be with the Wilson stands and in piano black which pushes the price up but this will be my end game speakers and probably system. I will report back once I have had time to live with them for a few days in case anyone else is thinking of buying the Tunetots
Well I now have the Wilson Tunetots set up with their big brother the Sabrina V. Only had them for a day but have to say the Tunetots are amazing speakers with so much base and detail for a small speaker. I have B&W 803 D at the moment and they blow them out of the water.
The Sabrina’s are clearly a step up as they should be at their size/price (I was lent some tellurium black speaker cable as well to save raving carpet up). First impression is amazing clarity, wide soundstage, instrument separation is fantastic. Forgive me trying to put what I’m hearing into words but it is almost impossible. I have them for a week on demo and in this time hopefully I will be able to make my mind up which one I would like to order, I will carry on swapping the speakers over for comparison but I think I am falling for the Sabrina’s already.
Thanks Winniethefoo, it’s taken me approaching 20 years to get here, I’ve found myself listening to albums/artists I’ve not listen to in years and re-discovering some gems. I must stay away from my local dealer once I’ve sorted the speakers out. One thing I did at my dealers though was listen to the speakers on a Moon system, that was very impressive and I absolutely loved the Moon remote control (knob) which i found to be a lot better than the Naim remote.
Would I be right in thinking that they are from Darren at The Audio Room in Hull ?
We have demo’d the Tune Tots in store….and were blown away by the sound ! ..yes they are expensive but when you see the work involved it’s understandable.
Not sure I would go for the iso base and the stand…it’s an expensive way to go..they sound just fine to me / us on the regular stands.
They are definitely on the to-do list…just need to sort the money side!
I a sure you will not regret if you go ahead!

Hi Steve’s, you are quite correct it is The Audio Room where I demoed the speakers first. I agree with you the iso base seemed to be a considerable amount of money for what it is, I just have the Wilson stands and they sound excellent. I’m still in shock how good they sounded against the Audiovector R6 Arrete in store, it was the Audiovector I went in to listen to but was advised to have a listen to the Tunetot and that was a real shock moment.
The Sabrina V is on another level to be honest, I did stick my head in to the room with the Watt Puppy running in it but that is a step too far financially. I hope you get chance to demo them at home and invest in the Tunetots they are so good.
Lovely system and speakers. I’ve never heard either but I know them by reputation and I know that both are superb. If it were me and I could possibly afford it I would go for the Sabrinas. You are clearly, and understandably, smitten with them. I have a feeling that if you decide to settle for the Tunetots then as good as they are you’ll always regret not getting the Sabrinas. So if you have the funds, and you clearly have the room, then get the Sabrinas is my advice. You say it will be your end game, and certainly you shouldn’t need anything better( !). It seems a shame to me not to get what you really want just to save a measly £10K! Seriously though, if you can afford it, go for it. You only live once.

The sound quality is amazing I’m listening to lots of different types of music and they just grab your attention. Yes the price is very high I’ve never spent this amount of money on any hi-fi products before but they will be end game for sure. My wife has supported me fully and my daughter told me to get what I want and not regret not getting the ones that I want.
I did consider getting a Naim ND555 to improve my system at the beginning but I would imagine that the difference would be nowhere on par with what I’m hearing now.
I notice you have Moon in your system Pete, very nice .
You can’t ask for more than the support of your family. My wife has also supported me fully through decades of hi-fi buying. It counts for a lot. Yes we have a Moon CD transport, Qutest DAC and Moon amp. Lovely with our Klipsch Forte III horn speakers.
Best of luck with whatever you decide to get. What a lovely position to be in, to choose between two really superb speakers!
For costly premium standmounts such as Tunetots which come with their own dedicated stands, I would be more inclined to purchase them as a set not only for sound quality but aesthetics-wise. The speakers would look more aesthetically pleasing and ‘complete’ with their matching stands, that’s just me. Nevertheless, I can understand that there are many speaker manufacturers which don’t offer dedicated stands for their speakers and the user would have no choice but to purchase the stands from other places.
Back in the day, I listened to a pair of Wilson Sasha series 2 at a friend’s house and it sounded superb. He had the Sashas in the bedroom while the living room had a pair of PMC EB1s. Those were the fun times.
The stands do make the package complete and look stunning but come a a hefty cost, it’s sometimes best not to analyse the cost too much individually or you would probably not invest in them.
I’ve purposely not listened properly to any speakers above the Sasha’s, I can’t afford to get too interested .
Hi Dougie, thanks yes there are some pictures on the System Pics thread. You can’t really miss them, they are the ones with the pink carpet and the big Klipsch horn loaded speakers!
Have you considered secondhand/ex-dem? At that level it could remove a £10k price jump to the Sabrinas, or even bring Puppys (Puppies?) down to the Sabrina price…
Hi Innocent_Bystander, Yes I have considered pre-owned but the Sabrina `v is a new product, there was on Sabrina X available but not in the correct finish/colour. I was tempted by the ND555 on a certain auction site but the speakers will make a far larger improvement I think.
If you go on IQ’s web site there are prints of The Wake signed by Peter Nichols for sale at £60, I was tempted but I think I better tighten my belt for a few months .
I would have liked to see them again at Bury but sadly for me both nights have sold out quickly.
