Wireworld Matrix 2 sequence

Hi there!

I just received my Wireworld Matrix 2 (newest I guess) and it sounds excellent.

I read that there are preferences in plug in sequences.

Mine right now is:

Block to wall outlet (Vertere Redline)

Socket 1 (nearest the one for the wall): Supernait 2 (Vertere Redline)

Socket 2: HiCap2 DR (Vertere Redline)

Socket 3: Technics 1200G (Vertere Redline)

Socket 4: Vertere Phono 1L (Isotek Eternal)

Socket 5: NDX2 (Isotek Eternal)

Socket 6: Lehmann Audio Linear Pro (default)

Any comments or suggestions would be great.
Thank you

Why not just use an Isotek?

I meant the sequence in the 6 sockets of the Matrix block. I had the Isotek Polaris and it sucked.

Ok. I have the latest Isotek Sigma v5. Much more costly than yours. It really does well in my system. However every system snd electrical environment is different. Good luck.

Thank you.
Not inspired to spend 5000€ on a power block, sorry. :folded_hands:

tried source first vs amp first and I personally found the former way sounds better. When amp first I found it’s a bit too HiFi, somewhat exaggerated for my liking.

@Jaybar I saw you mentioned Isotek a few times, but I bet Naim amps don’t design with power conditioning in mind, and not even recommend using? With a proper setup you got the best sound from Naim.

Thank you.

@juliushui lots of factors entered into this. I don’t have enough wall outlets and even if I did, our disability prevents us from easily getting to them. Lastly we have a lot of line noise in our building in NYC and the Isotek lowers that significantly. I trust my dealer and his tech. Both are big proponents of Isotek.

If it’s a ā€œstarā€ design it doesn’t matters…

I’m not sure that you have to. All I use is a Matrix 2!

What do I not have to do, please?

I would experiment and look at your main source at going closest to the mains outlet on the Matrix 2.

Then try with the amps first and see what works best.

I still have a matrix 2 for router, switches and CD player.

I also use Puritan 156 for Naim power supplies, Linn KRadikal and Phoenixnet.

Also try the amps direct to wall if you have a spare on the double socket.

There have been posts on this before and positioning does make a difference.

As Dan says, just experiment. I have my power amp into the wall socket, which for me works best. Then the matrix plugged into the other socket connected by a PL. My socket order is: Preamp, Core, Armageddon, gap, PS1, PS2. This sounds pretty good to me and, for some reason, better than everything plugged into wall sockets.

Agree, Naim don’t recommend power conditioners / filters, etc.

Dealers will sell you all types of expensive extension blocks, often £/$0000s, (good profit).

Often it is far cheaper to get an electrician to install a dedicated Hi-Fi mains. Mine was less than £600 and provided the right amount of sockets.

Thank you.

I repeat: as long as it’s a ā€œstarā€ design it doesn’t matters…

Edit: it seems, as per this photo, sockets are wired 2 by 2:

P.S. @Thorsten108 what was wrong with the Polaris ?

The Polaris sucked the life out of the NAIM sound I love. Dull. Unexciting. Too much ā€žfilterā€œ perhaps.

Right now, I have the Supernait 2 via the Vertere Redline into a wall socket.
On the other wall socket is now the Matrix 2 via another Vertere Redline.
On the Matrix 2, I now have the following order: (from the wall outlet to the right)

  1. Technics 1200G
  2. Vertere Phono 1L mkii
  3. NDX2
  4. Lehmann Linear Pro
  5. Empty
  6. HiCap2 DR

Sounds very good to me.

I repaired one of these a few years ago, not very impressed with quality, but that’s another thread.

Yes it is wired in what you call ā€˜star’.
In UK/EU it’s called ā€˜radial’, the link to the 2nd socket is a ā€˜branch’
I agree, the plug-in order should make little or no difference.

To my old MusicLine block it is a huge upgrade. I am very happy with the Wireworld Matrix 2.

Thanks.
