Top selection to try would be the first track on the Pere Ubu album: Non-alignment Pact, although ’Final Solution’ would be my overall recommended Pere Ubu track to start with (but it is not on the album).
There are surprisingly few jazz albums mentioned, this would propably be different the next time I attempt a list.

Nice to see another K&D!, sounds good anywhere but sounds awesome on a Naim rig
Great album, should have put it on my list. I saw Damian Rice and Lisa Hannigan perform in Stockholm (just the two them) about six months before he broke through. It caught me by surprise, had never heard of him (them). It was mesmerizing.
Hans
39 minutes have passed and I don’t understand how I could have left out Ornette Coleman, Bill Evans, Pat Methany, Esbjörn Svensson Trio, Charles Mingus, Chet Baker, Leonard Cohen, Nirvana, Goodspeed You! Black Emperor, Joni Mitchell, Damien Rice, Nirvana.
Hans
Well a bigger surprise for you then is that he was a founder of Bell X1, second largest selling Irish band after U2 (so I’ve heard or seen somewhere) (I’m guessing the plane model designation choice for a band was deliberate nod to U2.) but it’s amazing to hear some of Rices solo material as it was when part of the band.
I personally didn’t thought a lot, wrote a list with what was coming in my mind as best albums for me. But I could have written Joni Mitchell / Heira, Pat Metheny/ Offramp, Jimi Hendrix/ Band of Gypsys, Santana/ Abraxas, JJ Cale…The Temptations…Wilson Pickett/ Live at Philadelphia, and so on…
Nirvana, yup, same shame here. Leonard too. For different reasons also wrestled with no Tribe called Quest, NWA or Guru. 25 so difficult , but that’s life I suppose, plus I missed of Alt-j, who are epic and unlike many of their fans I love Reduxer
