Your 25 Favorite Albums

I know this has been done ad nauseum in some iteration, but thought I’d revive it since IMO it’s so much fun, not to mention interesting what people would choose as a tough, limited, ‘stranded on a deserted island’ kind of rotation.

Anyway, here’s mine in no particular order as of this date:

This was really difficult. I limited to two albums per artist (a few I could have picked an easy 5 each). I have intentionally left off Jazz and Classical. I could easily pick fav 100 but fav 25 was a bear. I’m sure I will want to change the list as soon as I post it. In no particular order:

    1. Jethro Tull – Thick as A Brick
    1. Jethro Tull – Aqualung
    1. Van Morrison – Astral Weeks
    1. Van Morrison – The Healing Game
    1. Joni Mitchell – Blue

    1. Supertramp – Breakfast in America
    1. Talking Heads – Can’t Stop Making Sense
    1. Marvin Gaye – What’s Going On
    1. Isaac Hayes – Hot Buttered Soul
    1. Sam Cooke – Nigh Beat
    1. Bobby “Blue” Bland – Two Steps from the Blues
    1. Jimmy Hendrix – Band of Gypsys
    1. The Moody Blues – In Search of the Lost Chord
    1. Traffic – John Barleycorn Must Die
    1. Yes – Close to the Edge
    1. Steely Dan – Aja
    1. Elton John – Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

How about people starring one album in their list, if possible choosing one that others are less likely to have heard than any that may be considered to be fairly widely known, as a recommendation for a new listener. Perhaps also suggesting one track from that album as a taster. In fact, it may then be fun for some people to construct playlists from the taster tracks. For those who have already posted their list, perhaps they could add this info as a reply to their list? (If you feel that this may compromise the simplicity of what was originally intended, please say so and I will then delete this suggestion).

Very solid idea.
