Of course so far we’ve only discussed hardware before the year is out I’m expecting several packages containing round 12” black discs.

If Father Christmas got my letter, then it will be a Dr SB ARC6 DC4 PSU for my SN3 pre amp stage, now my SN3 is out of warranty.
Failing that, my slippers and socks will be upgraded.

Been a busy boy. These are upgrades since July 2023:
New speakers Focal Sopra 2s.
Nac 52.
Serviced Nac 52, Supercap 2 and XPS2.
4 Naim powerlines.
Fraim base and 3 additional shelves to make 3 stacks of Fraim.
ND5XS2 purchased to use as Transport into existing NDS.
DC1 cable purchased.
LP12 serviced and Karousel fitted.
NDS screen replaced.
I am very pleased with the upgrades. It has all made a big difference to my enjoyment of the music.

Bought a Nait50 I didn’t really need for a second system. Don’t regret it though.

Been a little busy here was well
- Built the new Aegis TOTL headphone tube amp with IsoAcoustic Orea Indigo feet.
- Tubes (lots of pairs), Mullard EL34 XF2, EL37, EL38x6, GEC KT88, RCA Red Base 5691x4… and so on.
- Auralic VEGA G2.2 + Furutech F50 NCF cable
- ZMF Atrium Closed Ash LTD Purple Burst headphones… plus upgrade cable.
- Neotech Nemoi-1220 pure silver RCA’s.
Next year should be a lot quieter… yeah I know! Maybe a Mac mini for a Roon Core upgrade. Maybe a Caldera in the ZMF Nov sale.

How do the Chord Sarum XLRs compare to the stock cables (using the NC250)?

I tried a few different cables out
Tellurium Black Diamond which vs the provided Naim cables provides a warmer sound, level of detail equal to Naim, however, PRaT not to the same level…
Next onto Chord Signature, a step up vs Black Diamond, has the warmth, detail, improved timbre and good PRaT…
Then to Tellurium Statement II which are excellent, not sure they are worth the price vs the difference between these and Chord Signature.
I then fell into the trap again (did the same on speaker cables) and tried the Sarum T, and like the speaker cables I just seemed to get more of everything (apologies for generic term, but thats how they felt), thankfully my dealer looked have me

Can’t see anything else being added this year, only thing of significance was the Technics SU-G700M2 amp into the cabin system.

I also bought the Technomat this year. Have to tried experimenting with the mat cork side up vs black?
I have found that some records will favour cork and some black side up.
2023 has been a year of many changes and upgrades… Thankfully it is over now!

The speakers are slowly settling in, but the bass is still lacking a bit in terms of quantity. REW measurements show a ~10db dip in the region 100-200Hz. So the mission for 2024 will be to straighten that out somehow

Mid-year was the return to a Naim preamp after almost a year primarily with a Linn Klimax DSM (Organik upgrade). I tried some others (including 222) - nice but not for me.
So I brought out the old 252 and this time bought a SCDR rather than the old olive SC I had been using. That was it! - and really came to life with the 135 amps.
I also bought a Holo Spring 3 KTE NOS-DAC connecting to the Melco via USB: INAKUSTIK Referenz USB cable → Singxer SU2 → Audioquest Pearl HDMI (I2S) → DAC.
Very, very happy. Next year will be servicing the Naims.

Curious if you tried Super Lumina at any point, I tried the Chord Signature not long back (XLR + Speaker cables) and found them rather good, just had a loan set and didn’t venture further up the Chord ladder on that occasion. I certainly felt that the Signature combo was the best, I did mix and match with NAC A5 and 200 Series standard XLR’s in the process but it only all gelled when both were used together.
