Typical.
I could get a second 555DR, but the first track that would pop up in my mind to try it out would be D.I.V.O.R.C.E by Tammy Wynette.
Don’t think the wife would stand by her man.

I was cruising in the Kabin yesterday when I found a link to a review in What HiFi of Linn’s new DSM streamer. I don’t believe it’s permitted to post links to such reviews on this Naim forum, but it’s an interesting review, especially since they say it outperforms the Naim ND555. However, they were only using one PS with the ND555!
Has anyone here heard it in a back-to-back demo with the ND555, with either one or two power supplies?
Hi Iver,
I am running ND555 in a 500 system with 2 x 555 power supplies, one non dr (I used previously with an nDac) and a dr version purchased when buying the ND555.
I haven’t heard what difference upgrading the non ps would make, but as that would involve a service as well will defer that decision until then. They have been in my system for around 3 years now and my additions have been with speaker isolation and room treatment rather than, “I need to get the 555ps dr’d.
When i spoke to my dealer he said its a different type of presentation, lighter, airier, better spatial arrangement………but not as musical or engaging, depends as ever on one,s taste. He know, s my taste so his style of words probably aimed at me.
Audio T in Brighton are, according to their FB feed, preparing a blog about comparing the two side by side.
Just read the review, interesting…
A local’ish Naim/Linn dealer told me it was the most ‘analogue’ sounding streamer that he had heard…
…awaiting a demo to hear how it sounds to my ears (out of interest)…
now, about the £££££price tag…
Yes, it does seem costly at first glance, but it is a preamp as well.
True, if it ‘saved’ a £10/20K pre-amp it looks much better…
I’ve just booked a demo!
I read the What hifi reviews from time to time. I remember that they found Linn Klimax DS3 better than Nds, however they bought the Nd555 for them.
Then they found the Rossini better vs the Nd555, now it’s the Organik as better.
The new streamer produced is each time the best.
Fair enough, but it has piqued my interest and I’d just like to see what my own ears make of it. And eyes too, since in the pictures I’ve seen it does look rather ugly.
I was contemplating downsizing at one point so heard the top Linn Kudos at the time (must have been 4-5 yrs ago) and hated the presentation, with its lack of texture, cohesion and drive. Of course the new one may be much better…
Great, enjoy !
il faut…
Wait for a DR’d version to become available, 2 power supplies are the way to go (ahem long standing members fence sitting). My dealer was able to offer me a very competitive price (and the warranty). Listened to the Solstice and agree with the Naim acoustic sound on their top end streamer. Refreshing.
What’s necessary?
I prefer the look of the Klimax vs the Organik, much better.
I recently added a second 555DR ps and it really is fabulous
You get a second wife to go with the second PS.
