@Mitch, congrats for your purchase. If only I could one day by it and have the room for. In another life more probably.
Just being curious, I am wondering if the seller sold the Statement for something else? If yes , would be curious to know. Dagostino, Boulder, Soulution…? Kondo?
I never thought I would ever have the opportunity to own the Statement. It is beyond fantasy. When I was able to negotiate the price I got, I just couldn’t resist. Owning the 500 Series was already the stuff of fantasy.
My understanding is the Statement is being sold in order to raise capital for funding additional recordings. The people who sold it to me own the Chasing the Dragon record label and studio. I do not believe they are looking to replace the Statement with other audio gear.
I’m sure you’ll love it. As an aside, we went camping in Scotland last summer - this is the view from our pitch - looking to the Isle of Arran. Have you ever been to Scotland?
I will follow that thread and very curious to read you when you will receive it.
Don’t know if there’s something really better than full Statements. Perhaps full Vitus Masterpieces or CH precision.
Would be cool if Michael Fremer or Jonathan Valin could one day make a review of the Statements, as they have listened to most of the best brands available.
Personally if money it would be Statements for me.
Great photo of Arran. I’m embarrassed to say I have not YET been to Scotland. I have a feeling that I might enjoy the experience. But wtf do I know??11
@frenchrooster
Needless to say, I cannot wait to receive. I suspect it will not be until early March, at the earliest.
The idea of a Fremer review would, no doubt be, at least, interesting. But I think the guy should finally buy a flippin’ tripod!
What do you mean by flipping tripod ? Can you explain, I am french.
LOL…It was a semi polite way of suggesting that Fremer use a tripod instead of always walking around with his video camera. The video is always jumping and bouncing. I understand that technique adds a sense of authenticity to his videos, but I feel I need to take a dramamine.
Very true. But I still enjoy his Munich videos shows on turntables. And he is the only passionate for showing all these turntables.
But I prefer to read him on Stereophile. He even reviewed the 552 in 2002. Unfortunately it’s his only one Naim review.
Yeah… I wonder why he has never really delved into the world of Naim. Maybe he thinks it’s not sexy enough for his videos. -
You seem to be not a great Fremer fan
Closer to 9 for me, which is 90+ years of motoring… (Except that petrol/diesel will cease to be available!). Nevertheless, when I first saw the advert a bit of me was interested as the price was so “good”, as indeed a couple of other things I’ve seen recently - but changing plans and telling one of our offspring they’ll have to wait to inherit a Statement upon our hopefully far off demise instead of receiving imminent help to get on the housing ladder seemed more compelling use of hard-earned dosh!
I like him. He’s obviously quite knowledgeable, as well as entertaining. it’s just that I do not like him as much he likes himself.
I met him at Axpona in 2019. He would not put down his camera for a minute, even while we were chatting, so I walked away from him.
So we’re back to the no wife and kids theme. Whatever the downside of that lifestyle may be, the upside is awesome hi-fi gear!!! LOL
Hi Mitch,
Congratulations on your purchase. I’m sure you will be very impressed with the Statement.
This will obviously reduce your Fraim stacks but before you get rid of them I can maybe offer you a tip to improve the source equipment performance? This is something I picked up from my friend with his Statement and from Jason at Naim. This involves using two Fraim bases (double stacked) rather than just one. Apparently this further improves equipment isolation and energy transmission. Something that anyone with old Mana racks will recognise.
Good luck and keep us updated on life with a Statement.
Best regards
Mitch, very kind of you to share so much of this experience and others as well who have shared experiences of their S1 preamps. For us mere mortals lower down the Naim food chain, it is great to read what could be if we win the lottery!
Looking forward to reading (perhaps with some photos) of the arrival and set up of the amps.
Good luck!
Oh, no! What have you started??
Those are ridiculously large capacitors! What is that thing?
This one interior part of the Statement. You’ll get two of these
