500 Series vs. Statement?

@geko

2 Fraim bases…hmmmm…very interesting…and it would look really cool.

Beautiful pic of Arran. Hopefully you brought along a few drams to sip admiring that view.

I want to thank everyone for their well wishes regarding my Statement purchase. Since it is first going to the Naim factory to be converted to 110v and a general going over, I doubt I’ll get my hands on it until sometime in March. Now that I’ve committed to getting it, the wait will seem interminable. I suppose I’ll just have to put up with my old 500’s and sip good whisky in the meantime. :-))

I’m really looking forward to hearing all about it when it finally lands… sort of feeling the excitement from here… it’s that same excitement we’ve all had when waiting on a new bit of kit… the position in the scale is all relative I guess but it’s what binds us all in the hobby of music and the systems that provide it to us!

You’ve inspired me to build my whisky collection, which I have no doubt the better half will complain about :joy:

thanks for the kind thoughts. You are right about what binds all of us together.

As to your better half, just teach her to appreciate a fine dram; then you can enjoy it together. I actually met my wife 5 years ago at a scotch tasting event. It wasn’t love at first dram, but certainly helped to lubricate the process.

Great kit
Even greater price
Even more enjoyable music to come

Nice one, well done

When my wife and I were a lovely young couple, my parents in love knew about my whisky interests and they gave me a bottle of Balantines for my birthday. I am a quite direct and honest person in real life and I came the to understand the full meaning of the word ‘hypocracy’ when I said ‘Thank you’!

20 yrs ago now.

Sadly, she hates whisky… loves gin, as do I… so we have a very healthy collection of gin. Sadly, it has meant I have neglected my whisky collection… I can only beg for forgiveness and I promise to do my best in correcting that!

Due to this nice and friendly conversation here, tonight’s drink was an obvious choice.

Let’s drink a toast to @Mitch:
He made an enviable decision. It seems that he is a great honorable man: He will give us nice impressions of that one product most of us are lusting after and by ordering it, he simultaneously supports an audiophile record label. And many thanks to his wife who stayed calm. :wink:

Cheers

Your loudspeakers remind me of these:

Also very good loudspeakers!

We stayed at the campsite near Culzean Castle. It’s a nice area but economically challenged. We drove up the coast to Ayr, where there is a lovely shop selling a huge variety of whiskies. We bought a Bunnabuhain, but that was the only one. I prefer wine, and drink Scotch only occasionally. You’d love it I’m sure. The Talisker distillery on Skye is great to visit and in a stunning location.

We’ve only been to Scotland twice - from our house on the south coast we can get to the Loire Valley or Burgundy quicker.

Oh, these are good regions to relax and fill the cellar, too. :slight_smile:

Which sounds better of the 3 sources? If it’s possible to say that one sounds better.

The only common aspect is the colour :laughing:
Good joke :+1:

@Mitch

Congrats enjoy it, the anticipation of any new upgrade is a fantastic feeling and I bet you are like a kid at Christmas! :joy:
Just remember buying the statement will result in more listening and ultimately drinking more of those amazing malts! I am guessing buying the statement isn’t the end of the expense! :rofl::+1:t2:

Good man, enjoy it, you only live once and whatever’s left, you can’t take it with you!
(Forget the money, I am taking the malts!):joy::+1:t2:
