Given the sensitivity of the speakers, I believe the OP would be remiss if he did not try a Nait 2 aka the “Statement Killer”

Yes and you’ve only got one speaker. He’s got like 947 of them in those big wine coolers.

But he does appear to have drunk his own pub dry of whisky…impressive.

What’s your #1 Islay? I like me some peat. My nicest bottle is a Lagavulin 12 CS 2017 Edition.

As for Statement, I can’t help. I just have a lowly SN3. But congrats mate at winning life’s lottery and for being so willing to share.

I’m a big fan of Lagavulin, but Caol Isla ain’t half bad!

Isnt it just time for a Whisky topic in the padded cell again?

The Dane must be eying this topic to move it to the padded cell already

Having us contemplate an S1 while glugging single malt (purely for the sake of a thorough comparison) could well increase sales…

I would be more interested in discussions around the choie of these incredible speakers. Why them vs a lot of other brands ? Is Naim amp optimal with such sensitive speakers ?
But I understand others are interested more by whisky or scotch.
I am a bit responsible for that, as I posted first Mitch’s bottles collection

Though not a big peat fan, I must agree that the Lagavulin 2017 distillers Edition is very good. I think it is better than the Lagavulin 16. I have a we bit of it left. The previous iteration (I think it was either 2015 or 2016) was even better, IMO, but it is long gone. If you are a Lagavulin fan, I think their 12 yr cask strength is the best of the 3, by far. I also have a bottle of Caol Isla from the independent bottler, Signatory Vintage collection, at cask strength from 1983 (31 yrs old) which is remarkable!

As to the Grandinote speakers ( I almost forgot this is supposed to be a hi fi thread), my exposure to them was somewhat random. While living in the Boston area a few years ago, I had a friend who was the US distributor for the brand. He is the one who suggested them to replace my Linn Isobariks (which are now part of my second system, along with Naim’s 250, 252, and CDS 3).

I’m a sucker for a good deal and he offered them to me at just over wholesale (about 60% off). I never thought I would be able to acquire such elite speakers. They were custom built for me Grandinote Mach 36’s) and remain the only pair in the world! They match perfectly with the Naim gear. I’ll spare yu all the superlatives (I cannot think of any new ones). they just need to heard, especially with some fine drams. (There I go again, back to whisky!). I can only imagine what the Statement will do with them…

There’s some Irish members on the forum and we take these invitations very seriously :shamrock:

EDIT: and that was before I saw all the drink!

Chris Murphy is apparently no longer required by Naim as a servicing agent. He is no longer the Naim distributer and my dealer has advised that they will no longer be selling Naim.

Are you a fan of triple distilled single malt Irish whisky by any chance???

Sad news, but good for your pockets. Will there be still a Naim service possible in NZ?

I got the impression that the answer is no. It would have to be a non-Naim service in NZ, or send it to the other side of the world - which I wouldn’t do. I likely will now stop at the SN2 or go Heed separates.

Maybe Australia makes service ?

Unfortunately not, Chris Murphy was doing that as well. Naim changed the distributor in Australia a while back and now it’s NZ’s turn…
