500 Series vs. Statement?

I think my dealer does their own Naim servicing in Sydney, his between a distributor and also a dealer for over 30 years.

I find this extraordinary. I canā€™t fathom what will have pressed Focal to take this action. Local servicing of equipment is such a key part of owning it. We canā€™t just stick it on a boat to the UK. Even if servicing was available in Australia, thatā€™s not exactly a cost-effective option either, itā€™s 2,000km away!

@Naim.Marketing can you shed some light on this? How are Naim customers in NZ to have their kit serviced now? Will there even be an active Naim presence in NZ?

My understanding was that we would be supported by non-Naim local servicing.

Yes, but probably not the main Naim dealers with the long and deep knowledge who you have a relationship with. They are no longer required, but you can go to the next Naim retailers and abandoned the old ones if that is your ethical model for supporting small local NZ businesses.

Indeed. The main Auckland dealer will no longer be selling Naim after being a cornerstone for Naim for decades and Iā€™ll be damned if the new dealer and Naim gets my business if they have shafted the current retailers.

This conversation seems to have gone way off topic now., so i may have to prune it back a bit.

Re. NZ, if true then itā€™s sad news, and if so, Iā€™m sure Naim must have had a very good reason to seek a change of distributor. Iā€™m not privy to the details, so please donā€™t ask. Hopefully for all Naim owners in NZ weā€™ll know more once Naim make an announcement. Thanks.

Yeah sorry about that, please do, if possible could you carve off the NZ stuff to a new thread?

No, not possible. sorry.

That Nikka is a very nice blend, @NigelB. I donā€™t usually drink blends, but I was impressed I must say.

No comment needed on the Lagavulin!

I especially like the Coffey Grain expression. Itā€™s also a very good value.

Yes, it is my first venture into the world of Japanese whisky, and it was a Christmas present.

Lagavulin 16 YO is my favourite!

Itā€™s not one of my favorites, but it is a classic.

Yes, but you are a connoisseur with experience of hundreds of single malts.

I am very willing to be educated though.

Hic!

Sounds like a lot of fun!

I warn you, I am very thorough when researching such matters and it could get messy!

Ditto! Many others L like and drink, but always come back and savour that.

I might need to go shopping.

To all those Lagavulin 16 lovers, if you havenā€™t yet, try their 12 yr Cask strength expression. It is quite excellent. IMHO , it is far above the 16.

As the topic is about fun, pleasure, good scotch and music, I add to it music and sexy girls. Why not ?

Please excuse me if Iā€™ve missed it, but I havenā€™t seen any mention of cables. Surely, they must be more exotic than Chord Music, Ansuz or Super Lumina.
