500 v 2x300 active?

Oops missed that. I did look various things up that people suggested but nearly all get rejected on aesthetic grounds (that’s my taste, filtering before Helen gets chance). Nothing even vaguely rustic!

Oh yes just checked - the d’agostino stuff looks (to my eyes) completely hideous. Def not coming into my home  and if it did I would be moving out to the garage on my own

Because of their relatively small size and the fact that they sit back against a wall, the SL2 or SBL are hard to beat for ‘discreet’. After being used to them, anything that has to sit away from the wall is immediately more intrusive, regardless of its size.
Yeah, I know I’m not helping…
DBL’s ? Huge, but wall hugging :upside_down_face:

Dbls wouldn’t fit - too wide

Come on Tim, even my old T88s look ok

The T-88’s may just be the answer for Tim…great speaker. A bit smaller in stature than the 808.

Mine won’t be coming out that far from the wall :flushed:. Quite interesting to see the differences - I prefer the seamless look on the front (without the 808s’ metal strip) but don’t like the two different woods.

The more regular shape of the cabinets (the 808s being more sculpted) makes them perhaps a bit more domesticated depending on the house style

But I have 808s coming so it looks like I will just have to see how they go

Hi Tim, dare we ask when?

Supposed to be this week but today is crammed and am feeling full of cold so not chasing it just yet. Will call tomorrow if I haven’t heard

hello Tim
Have you seen the walnut finish?

I haven’t, no. It had registered with me as a possibility without moving into direct consideration but I will look at it. Not seen any photos of it I don’t think

Tim, I had Walnut 606s on demo they look totally different than in the Brochure.

I don’ think you can really decide until you see them in the flesh so to speak or even better in your own room.

I did pick Tineo because my Oak furniture is more of a mid Oak with a little bit of a grainy finish and the Tineo finish of the 606s work well in the room.

I was there the next day and heard the same setup - I was mightily impressed. However, Peter is an ‘active’ man I was not surprised, but I recall a demo at a dealer in the Forest of Dean where I asked the Naim fellows about replacements for 135’s. The response was why? After all he said, I think it was Jason, we have the 300’s. Next time I’m up at Cymbiosis I’ll ask the same question.
BTW - unless I receive a windfall I’m sticking to my 4x135 into Ovator 600’s.

Exciting… we await your thoughts with bated breath.
Once my demo pair were here they never left the house and my trusty old NBLs were off to a new home.

Look forward to hearing how you find them. And of course your wife’s impressions

I was at Cymbiosis again on Tuesday and was again impressed by the Titan 808, but they did look bigger than my NBLs, which is confirmed by the spec. I have just rechecked and have corrected my earlier post.

I may start a new thread once they have arrived. Then at least the thread title can make sense

Thanks - the walnut would potentially go with the piano, dresser and dining table but then we have other woods in the room including lighter oak and pine, plus the two sorts of cherry fraim. Am wondering if i could get rid of the dark cherry fraimlite entirely and just have the paler full fat fraim.

You just know they are going to stay and the next level off upgrades will start, or atleast the list will, its inevitable
