Indeed, and I have responded to you on the other thread.
My wife has a problem with Bela Fleck. No rhythm or melody apparently
And she probably tells you that you cannot dance eitherš
Ooh no I told her that
That track should only be used to measure trouser flappage, and not to dance to!
I can guarantee no dancing goes on in this house!
I feel blessed as bought ex-dem, no run in and only had them a few weeks but in musical heaven.
I think the general consensus is to connect the SL to top box but moved mine to bottom and for now and prefer it. Only takes a minute, be worth experimenting at some point.
We started with them attached to the bottom box - with the dem pair (here from new until mine came) that worked very well - but the SL cables didnāt connect properly with the bottom box (itās a very early pair apparently) and swapping to the top has what was fixed an occasional problem zizz on the top right box. So not going to swap back!
The problems come to light with a streamed Fairground Attraction CD. Wonder if I need to get the vinyl!? The double bass causes some problems that didnāt show on Nigelās suggested tracks
Use Bluetooth on ND555 with your phone and down load a signal generatorā¦and run a tone from 30hz in 1hz stepsā¦ you will soon find the problemā¦
Once you have done thisā¦go round the room with a dB meterā¦on phoneā¦you will find boomy areasā¦that may help you adjust your setupā¦from recollectionā¦I think your speakers are quite close to the rear wallā¦I possibly think they could do with being pulled out furtherā¦maybe. My experience is with speakers close to rear wallā¦is, when you turn up the volumeā¦the room will start to be drivenā¦this can be quite a powerful effectā¦hence Linn Kans having a skewed frequency responseā¦but every room is uniqueā¦
Thanks. But will wait to see if the boom comes back - havenāt heard it on those tracks suggested by Nigel or on anything I have played since
I really hope you donāt its a pain (get boom)ā¦ mind you have a lovely big room which may be able to handle itā¦it which case it will be amazingā¦I noticed in my setup adding the second supply to the nd555 really helped my issueā¦it seemed to tighten the bassā¦
Latest update - SL xlrs should be coming soon along with a sparkly bottom mains block. No sign of the electrician yet to do the spur to the new location so that may be a while off yet
But the 808s and 500 have now been going for nearly 2.5 months (eek!) and I think they sound fabulous but not having heard any other system (apart from the atom / nSats in the loft) for over six months I have lost any kind of external reference point - so am not sure if my brain is tricking me in some way. Really looking forward to hearing a friendās similar system (except he has B&W 802s and no lp12) as I always preferred the SL2s to B&Ws, and I want to be sure I prefer the 808s. Cannot imagine not doing but maybe an element of lockdown paranoia? But itās now over four months since I heard the SL2s and I donāt remember them clearly.
Anyway no regrets apart from hardly listening to LPs for quite a few weeks. Really should get the kandid run in and get the record cleaning machine running
Have you sold the SL2s? Or are they still with you?
Pxād them against the 808s. Bought from the dealer by Colin who has a thread or two on them on here - he is running active with 135s
Well and truly settled in now in their new home
Glad to hear it. Didnāt get your contact details yet but will chase that when neater a time I can visit!
Just checked the email from Ross again, he said he forwarded it, strange!
He sent it to someone else then I check my spam folder almost every day so fairly sure I havenāt got it there
Nice to hear things going well Tim
