Another update. Pete came to install superlumina xlrs on the 500 today. These are a brand new pair - he sold the ones he was “running in for me”. Immediate improvement - not listened to very much yet but the voice of the singer on a Fairground Attraction album (ripped from CD) became more delicate.
Then (because why not?) we swapped the wire world block for a music works with sparkly bottom block. Even more delicate.
Just keeps getting better and better!
Cannot try any LPs out at the moment as the LP12 is away (new arm, plinth and Tangerine Audio top and bottom plate being fitted), but looking forward to listening to what is now pretty much the end game for me (apart from a second 555ps on the ND555 - but not this year I don’t think)
Hi Tim, the Din-Xlrs take some time to run in sounding somewhat clinical to begin with. Once mellowed you will realise just how much sense they make ATB Peter
I do find unplugging etc every month or two important when the delicacy etc drops necessary. It might also be the turning off of the boxes for 5 minutes.
To be honest it is not just delicacy - the bass also becomes superb - just listen to this from the Naim Audio playlist.
Made an immediate positive difference here. Good news if there is more to come
Edited to add:
Actually - a bit sharp and lispy now - ssssssss. But I do have a bit of a headache, so I might not be hearing properly. Think I need to go to the dentist (booked for a couple of weeks’ time)
Nothing “wrong” as such. But tangerine audio top and bottom plate being fitted to a simplinth (walnut) along with ekos 2 se arm. The simplinth has had to go back to base for a bit of fettling to make the Skorpion fit it (need one that can take the urika). So the end results should be pretty spectacular
So you are combining the tangerine bottom plate with an eklipse underneath on a wooden plinth ? I have always been wondering if that’s something to try…
