Hello. New here so hope I’m posting in correct place. When I try and cast to my Unity Atom using AirPlay the phone asks me to ‘Enter the password for Unity Atom…’ (see screenshot). Does anyone know where I am meant to locate this password? There’s nothing on the unit or in the supporting literature.
Ah, this password should not be set on a new / reset Atom. Have you tried entering an empty password? (Though I never had to enter one on my devices…)
If it does not work, you can try this:
- Determine the IP address of your Atom on the network.
Option 1: In the app, Settings → Info (likely the easiest way)
Option 2: from the network inventory of your router, or any other NW related way, if you have a familiar and easy access to that. - Use a web browser (PC, Mac, mobile devices) and enter the IP address as address/URL.
Or http:// - Navigate to the NETWORK tab. There’s a field to set the Airplay Password.
(I assume, you can also reset/unset it there.)
Maybe check your phone settings too. I’ve never been asked for an airplay password
I too have never been asked to enter a password. The Airplay Password in the Atom web interface described by @PhilippVH is empty for my Atom.
Thanks Philipp. I accessed that function as directed and tried to change the (empty) password field to a new password (there’s no option to reset or bypass the password) but to no avail. I enter the new password but just get the same request to enter a password again. Tbh it’s not a massive deal because I can still use the Chromecast function for casting (when not using the Naim app) but it would be nice to know what’s going on here. Thanks again for your swift response!
It was for me too! I tried to change it to a new password but the problem person; I still get asked for password after inputting new password. It’s very strange. Thanks for the reply, Robin.
Tried looking for relevant settings but can’t find anything.
Welcome.
Is this a new Atom or new to you?
Either way, the best is to compete the following. Factory reset the Atom, after 15minutes power off the mains and restart.
In the meantime, close the app on your control point, check either on tablet or phone that in Settings / Focal and Naim app - local network is “on”. Now power off your control point and wait until you have restored power to your Atom, then restart control point. Select a stream first and ensure everything is as expected, then on your control point, select an app and have that play and then connect airplay.
Always worth posting exact details of your control point, model, iOS version number - which is not “the latest software” - which requires more key strokes than iOS 17.x.x
Let us know how you get on.
Perhaps in your home app is the password setting activated, I don’t know if that’s interfering here though.
Thanks Pieto. I’m not sure what you mean by ‘home app’? There is no such app on my iPhone 14 or Atom.
Thanks. The Atom was new when I bought it, not secondhand. I am running iOS 17.5.1 on iPhone 14 Pro. I will try the factory reset if I can’t find another solution. I don’t want to lose my settings etc so it’ll be a last resort. Appreciate you taking the time to make the suggestion though.
@Pablo9 if the Atom is new for you, congrats.
First port of call, before you do anything usually, is to speak to the dealer.
Settings you should check on iPhone (i checked on my iPh 15), is in Settings / General / AirPlay & Handoff / Automatically AirPlay set to Automatic - let us know if you are currently set to ‘never’.
A search here also brought up this thread. Always worth doing a search before starting a thread - countless times, an issue has been seen before. Try the details in that thread.
