The device says: 2D….
2D means you don’t have the 192/24 board, as you thought. But whatever your dealer says, I still believe that you should be able to get the new Internet radio service without that board. You could always email Naim technical support in UK and they will know for sure.
You received this advice from the Naim factory? Or from a dealer?
Like David says, I’m pretty sure even your early Uniti should work with the new Internet Radio service. Or at least, if not, I’m not aware of it.
I emailed naimsupport on Saturday. No reply from them yet. I also do not get that iRadio should not be able to work on a Uniti 1 with old streaming board. I tried to get that board upgrade some time ago when my lcd screen was replaced, but they said they did not have them anymore.
Still, have some hope left.
Rob
I got this reply from Latham in the Netherlands, but I did file the support ticket at Naimaudio.com/support

Gerard
thanks!
OK, I’ve asked Naim R&D and had this back:
Any units with the very original board (with the removable wifi module) won’t take firmware higher than 2.9.
These units will already have lost TIDAL etc that required 4.8.
Anything that will run 4.8 will also run 4.9. Ie, units running 3.0 or later.
So @Pr8hube, unfortunately it looks like what you were told is correct. The very earliest Unitis, still running the original streamer board, can’t have the required firmware applied to them to run the new Internet radio service. This is doubtless due to limitations in the earliest hardware.
That said, the original Naimuniti does have both optical and coax digital inputs x2, so there are many off board devices that you can add that will provide multiple streaming services and internet radio.
Hi @Yann. Did you find the 4.9 firmware OK? If I recall correctly, when you run the Streamer Updater it offers to download the latest version of the firmware.
Regards,
Alan
Thx for helping out.
But I’ve updated my 1st gen Uniti to firmware 4.9.
So I expected that I could also use the new iRadio service.
Regards Gerard
Ofcourse, I could add another device. But the charme of a Uniti is that you have it all in one device. Controlled by one remote, ……
Gerard
Same here, Gerard.
Ah, ok if it’s able to run 4.9 then you should be able to use the new radio service.
But I don’t see any iRadio stations.
Hi, is it still trying to connect to a station from before the update?
I went from 4.7 to 4.9 but my experience is the same as Gerard.
NaimUniti 1: All in one but one.
And you have the latest version of the Naim app on your phone/tablet?
What do you see on the App?
