Same starter word every day for me. If it ever comes up as the word of the day, then I’ll change it.
Every so often it strikes out completely, in which case I have a standard second word.

Yeah, this is the way I’m going. Starter word is obvious and I’ll stick with it. I now need to decide a statistically helpful second word. Can’t see the point of doing a logic puzzle by starting without logic.

For me the big question is ‘vowel heavy’ or ‘consonant heavy’.
I suspect most people go for vowels, but I find that can set you down the MCQ route, whereas if you are lucky with a K or a W then it makes guessing the answer easier, fewer options.
This theory is not yet proven, and certainly my results do not suggest it’s better, but I am sure that a first line of ‘-a-e-’ is not that helpful as there are so many options and then it just comes down to luck, with a good chance of the dreaded MCQ…
….or maybe lots of people take this view

I have used that Mike, but more frequently I start with RAISE which I might follow with MOUNT. Although I can change my mind and use other words depending on my mood. So no logic applied over here at all

I think some regular contributors will look at the thread before they do the puzzle. Hoping to gain some clues or insight. Others, like me, prefer to attempt it in complete ignorance. There is no right way or wrong way, so no one gets particularly uptight about it.
