Artistic album covers

Not bad at all - I couldn’t do that regardless of time!

I think that belongs in the bizarre rather than artistic category!

The mind truly boggles.

Same here to be honest.

That’s not all that appears to be boggling …

Oh god…he’s not blowing is he…

FACT 25. This Peter Saville-designed cover for Joy Division’s second album was created before Ian Curtis’ suicide. The image is by photographer Beranrd Pierre Wolff (1930-1985) and is a 1978 photo of the Appiani family tomb in the Cimitero monumentale di Staglieno, an amazing cemetary outside Genoa.

FAC 23. Another '78 Wolff, also from the Cimitero monumentale di Staglieno; this time the tomb belongs to the Ribaudo family.

Closer…beautiful image and cover.

Stunning album too.
The first JD I bought and I’ll always love it.

I know it’s inside the gatefold, not the cover, but it takes some beating.

Is it a nose or an ear ?

I always interpreted it as an artistic visual of our good old friend Narcissus.
He spent so long intoxicated by his own reflection that he couldn’t tell the difference between his ears or his nose.
Probably couldn’t careless so long as it had something reflected from himself.
This is of course schoolboy stuff and nothing what so ever to do with Sid.

No idea what it is!

Wondered the same. Nothing hopefully, deep inhalation could be far worse for his instrument!
