Auralic is an ex- parrot

This could be tempting if you have a NAS full of locally stored music? Could be a neat solution to copy across to the internal storage and use with an open UPnP app assuming Lightning DS goes belly up…would no doubt sound pretty special also.

As definitive as anything is in this game.

I bought a Holo audio red as a fall back in case my Aries G2 were to go Kaputt and need repair (that is when I thought repair was still a possibility!) and although it gets very good write ups the difference, and I hate it over state these things, is not subtle. You wouldn’t call it nuanced.

But is it due to the fact that I may have interference on my ethernet and my Auralic bypasses this by using its excellent wireless connection?

as I say as definitive as anything in this game.

Change in the streaming APIs would be handled by the alternative apps and I don’t used DS so sorry I wouldn’t know specifically what you’d miss but isn’t most functionality replicated by a Web interface?

Hardware adjustments via a web page, but not music playing.

For me yes.

I like my WiiM Ultra and I like my Auralic Aries.

The Auralic is a clear SQ winner through both my Michi DAC and the Chord Qutest however.

The WiiM serves very well through both, however when you take the Auralic away, something is missing. Replace the WiiM with the Auralic and it’s very much there.

And the options or personalisation of the Auralic delivery through the LS app is first rate too. Again, Wiim not too shabby here but Auralic is a step or two up.

Just looking for a matching psu now🤣

There’s one to bid on within ebay UK just now…

I may just be watching that

I may have paid too much given that pre owned prices may drop over the next few months, but the Vega was ex dem and accepted an offer. That gives me a virtually new one.
The psu is different and if at the right price I ‘ll take a chance.

Was tempted to add one to my Vega S1. But they want more than the retail price… what!?!

Starting price is just over half RRP.

I’d be keeping my powder dry for a bit. Unless the distributor was tipped the wink in advance, there’ll be a fair number of Auralic units sitting in a warehouse somewhere awaiting a decision on what to do with them. Look at what happened with the Nait 50…….

Not quite the same I think. Auralic seemed to have little stock at dealers and made quick deliveries to order. Those ex demo units are likely to be the last chance to buy new ish.

Yes 500 ish even a bit steep. I can get a new one here for 540 pounds Stirling equivalent. S1 Aries and Vega 1050 pounds

Just an fyi I updated my iOS on my iPhone to 18.7.1 with no issues to Auralic app

Updated my iPhone to OS 26.0.1 Lightning DS app seems to be working OK.

I bought an Auralic Aries G1 at an ok price, hours before the shutdown notice was announced. If it should fail at some point, the purchase value would not outweigh much else I have lost money on in this hi-fi madness.

That said, I feel for those who have invested large sums in Auralic products, especially if something were to fail and cannot be repaired or for other reasons it loses its functions. These are tough times for manufacturers within a narrow niche
