I’m not aware that Auralic units are subject to failure. It’s more about future functionality given the ceaseless development and turnover in software away from the unit (i.e. Apple and streaming services updates) leading to the units becoming less able to do what they’re supposed to do.
Well, it was not my intension to claim that
on the other hand, failure versus reduced or loss of functionality, it`s pretty much the same in a long run in my opinion.
I’m not so sure about that. If failure means the product no longer produces sound and is unrepairable, it’s just a brick. OTOH if say streaming services no longer play, it can still be used for local files and there are likely to be ways round the lack of streaming. So a bit more functionality than a brick, but I guess we’ll see.

Why so negative? You are talking of something that hasn’t happened. If you are worried don’t buy one.
Is that addressed to me? I was responding to @Stover ‘s suggestion that complete failure and loss of some services are effectively the same and I was being positive rather than being negative.
Neither am I currently in the market for a streamer of any make, though I do have a Vega in a second system. I’m pretty confident it will be usable for many years to come — so not negative at all.

Addressed to everyone who is looking for problems that haven’t happened. There are solutions now, they may or not be available if future problems arise,
The end of the world is nigh!

I was only referring to discontinued products or services, not the company.![]()
I never meant to be negative or cause problems of any kind. My intension was rather meant to show compassion if someone ended up in that situation. I have no experience with Auralics quality and have never got the impression that they are bad in any way.
I suggest you enjoy your Auralic (if you own one) and move on ![]()
It’s OK, I get that people are concerned and certainly no offence taken or problem here. I just think we all can look at doom and gloom before it actually happens. I am an owner of multiple Auralic devices and I’m so pleased with their performance I’ve just ordered another one although now at a bargain price. Foolhardy or wise I’m yet to find out, but so far everything remains working. As Clint might have said, ‘D’ya feel lucky audiofool? Well d’ ya? ![]()
