Good news - It’ll be worth the wait.
Hello,
Are you still satisfied with the AVoptions signal cable?
I’m looking for a cable with the same qualities as the lavender.
For instant I was generally disappointed with cables changing experiences…
For example I was not really convinced by a signal cable from Phonosophie or by the Hiline.
I buy cables from WHA too for the 135 and came back quickly to the standard cable.
Little update from me. Received my AV Options Signal XLRs last week and they’re finally run in. Difficult to outright declare a significant change to the sound as I installed my Shunyata power distributor and power cables a few days prior but it seems the Signal brought with it a more coherent, natural sound, losing the small degree of glare the outgoing silver-plated copper cable had. Like The Dude’s rug, it really ties the sound together.
Yes, I agree they really improve the overall musical coherence. The music seems to be of one piece, with great dynamics and boogie. If you like rhythmic qualities, these cables have them in spades.
Happy to hear you like your new cable!
Hello,
Indeed I am. Just received a 1.4m length Din-Din cable for my new ND5XS2 (along with AVOs top power cable that gives a greater, but similar, improvement over the stock Tibia cable). Been running them in over last two weeks.
Other than a Chord cable from my Aria Phono, I’m now full loom.
The biggest improvements the AVO cables offer over WH, imo, is speed and musical attack. The WH could be syrupy sweet, which over time I found to be unnatural. The AVOs restore the Lavender goodness in this regard, but adds improvements across the frequency range, better clarity, a little quieter, and allow Naim’s epic PRaT to shine through.
Thanks for your answer OliveAmps!
I order a signal cable!
I will see if this time, the cable changing brings a really improvement in the direction I like, means Little Grey + ![]()
I’m really curious to test the AVoptions signal cable.
Perhaps this last experiment will be the good one to find a superior Lavender…
After that I will stop!![]()
Good luck Jacques135! Looking forward to reading your write-up!
Thanks!
Yes I‘ll come back to report as soon I listen to the new one!
Me too!
I don’t think they are. In my journey with the Signals, there was a wow moment after 200 hours of continuous playback, where the soundstage and instruments clicked into place. Give it a bit more time, check after the 2-3week mark.
AV Options made up a set of dual XLR to DIN5 cables for me. They settled in just fine after about 100 hrs. Chris and Nick said that’s about how long it would take. I haven’t noticed an improvement since.
I’ll keep an ear out but so far they haven’t changed since hitting the approx 100hr mark.
AV Options appear to be running a 20% discount at the moment.
Not sure if this is to mask a price increase or not.
Cable I’m interested in is RRP US$1,699 (SIGNAL XLR to XLR balanced 1m stereo pair).
If you’ve had dealings with them before does this look a reasonable deal compared to yours?
Thank you
Question for anyone - maybe UK based - that has bought direct from AV Option, USA, importing a higher value ( £1,000+ ) audio cable into UK…
Please can you say how it works with duties and sales tax ( VAT ), in the delivery process.
Maybe @james_n has knowledge?
I assume it’s an additional sum for any customs duties ( for appropriate HS code) and also VAT @ 20% being added and collected somewhere. But if AV options are running a promotion ( see post above ) this might make it cost neutral for UK buyers paying VAT, etc.
Thank in advance ?
R
Hi ratrat.
My set of SIGNAL balanced cables came via FedEx. I just got an email from them with payment details and paid that. The 20% discount AV Options were offering offset the VAT paid on import so that was good timing. IIRC there was a small £15 or so FedEx processing charge too.
Hope that helps
James
Thank you @james_n
So to be clear, just VAT and an admin fee from FedEx
No customs duties ?
Finally, did you also benefit from an AV Options promotion reduction too. ( Maybe using offer code) ?
Did I read that right…
Thanks again
R
I’m pretty sure that was it, along with a 20% promo code discount that AVO were running at the time. I’ll take a look at the invoice details when I get home later as it’s been 18 months or so since i bought them ![]()
Sure. I’ve found the promo code ![]()
It was just interesting to read AVO ran a similar promotion, before.
Thank so far
R
