Hi all
I’m thinking of buying an AV2, NAP 150 and NAP 175 to add to my NAC202 / NAP 200. I know its a bit old, but I only really watch streaming services etc so latest decode isn’t that important. I can’t figure out if the AV2 can be configured to support 7:1?
I was hoping that the NAC202 would drive the front main speakers, the 175 for the Centre and the L / R surround’s and the 150 driving the Rear Surrounds. The manual could have been written in dutch for all the sense it makes to me.
Any help welcome
Thanks

It supports 7.1, but in certain formats only eg neo 6 or dts es. (Predates dts hd for example)
You can see all the output channels on the rear;
Front l & r
Rear l & r
Surround l & r
Centre
Sub
Decode Modes: Direct; Mono; Stereo; Dolby Digital; Dolby Digital Surround EX; Dolby Pro Logic II; DTS; DTS Neo:6; DTS-ES

It does have analogue 7.1 input using the combined DIN VIPS inputs, so if you have a Blu-ray player that can decode and output 7.1 to analogue, you could connect that up to the AV2.

The AV2 is a very good unit used in this configuration - analogue out from something like the Panasonic 9000 (better in my opinion than most of the other options, Oppo 205, 203). If you use the AV2 in pure 7.1 analogue mode and use the 9000 you will have all formats for audio and picture in place. I spent over 15 years trying to better the AV2 for audio, I couldn’t better it when using a Denon 3800 BR player with the latest Arcam processors and that level of unit. I bit the bullet when 4K and ATMOS came and bought £10k+ Acurust ACT 4 to replace the AV2 and 9000 analogue out. After 6m of installed and fully set up Acurus ACT 4 I would question the performance on some older films (VERY DIFFICULT TO A-B. processor when all 10+ cables are different and its many hours to reconfigure)
So I spent a weekend going back to the AV2 and Panny analogue out and preferred it…
I now have replaced the AV2 with 4 naim 32.5 pre amps, that is better and I did carefully A-B !
