Best internet radio anyone?

@Stevesky has posted that vTuner have now sorted their problem of last couple of days.

Hi All,

ref: Mother Earth Radio.

Based on their website it looks like they have run out of money to keep it running.
We’ll keep the station listing for another month, but if it goes nowhere then we’ll remove it from the Hidef section.

Gladys Palmera

Hello, is anyone else having trouble connecting to this Latin station?

It is not playing on vTuner.
It is OK on Airable so likely a changed URL issue @Stevesky
It is quite a happy station - I think Robert Plant would like (some of) it.

Fantastic. Thanks for the heads up

Hi all,

It should be working now. VTuner are recovering their database and they’re doing most popular first to minimise impact.

Thank you! Gladys Palmera is back in action, I’ve got my tropical tunes to listen to whilst this hot weather lasts.

My other Spanish rock station (and flamenco, bossa-nova, ska and thrash) is RNE radio 3 - are all the RNE stations not connecting for the same reason?

Hi @Legume

Rne 3 is now fixed. VTuner are slowly recovering the situation and hopefully by early next week it should be all back to normal.

Best

Steve

Another endorsement for FIP. I was only introduced to it recently. Good, eclectic mix of music and has the additional benefit that when they read the news I cannot understand what they are saying (so my stress levels remain low)

Now seems back from the dead on their website. @Stevesky

@Stevesky, out of curiosity, if for whatever reason vtuner went permanently belly up, do Naim have any contingency plans for implementing, via firmware, another provider such as tunein or whatever? It seems vtuner is very imbedded in the Naim line up.

What would be absolutely fabulous would be if the naim app could add internet radio urls manually, without relying on naim.vtuner.com

With the recent aggregator and vTuner issues we’ve been using other apps to access internet radio. For example radiodroid can share any stream to a naim device via bubbleupnp app

Have realised that when aggregators lose or geolocation blockers deny access to stations that it is trivial to use other apps to get working urls. If only we could store these easily via the app…

Keeping abreast of the many and regular changes, additions and cessations of radio stations is a big job as evidenced by posts in this topic and elsewhere. A bit like painting the Forth Bridge. Naim seem to do a good job in handling and resolving the many issues with vTuner. Take a bow @Stevesky
I doubt they would want to take on this task when there are providers who specialise in it.
P.S. TuneIn is now a disaster in the UK.

Indeed TuneIn is a disaster due to geolocation checks, vTuner has had a few mini episodes recently and all aggregators seem to be losing content apace.

It’s no big deal there are many great internet radio apps for both android and iOS out there using public databases which seem to be kept up to date and can cast to any standards compliant streamer such as naim boxes. During all the recent problems with Bauer streams being removed and vTuner database we’ve never lost access to say Planet Rock at any point via these apps.

Yep , even the news sounds better in French .

Hi all,

The gears of progress slowly turn at VTuner. More stations have been brought back to life.
Planet Rock and Scala Radio (UK) are also back in the system.

We’ve got a few issues in Australia at the moment at VTuner, but they should be sorted soon.

Best regards

Steve

Came across this jazz station because some one was having difficulty on another thread.
Somehow Jazz (from Irvine, USA)

Good SQ and good mix esp. jazz/fusion and jazz/funk.
Another class station.

I’ve been trying to find some good Bluegrass stations and came across two

  1. WPAQ Voice of the Blue Ridge - 62kb/s - from Mount Airy, North Carolina. Good authentic old school bluegrass. Occasional news and weather forecast for about 5mins in authentic accent (no adverts).
  2. GotRadio Bluegrass - 128kb/s - from Sacramento, California. Good quality broadcast.

Are there any more good bluegrass stations?

Interesting!

vTuner has 27 - but some may not be working at the moment due to the ongoing vTuner issue.

There are some stations listed on https://www.internet-radio dot com/stations/bluegrass/

Some I found include (and some in mp3/320):-

Thanks. I could not find the last four on your list (I searched naim.vtuner.com).
