Best internet radio anyone?

Yeah! Where would we be without the Archers?

Her indoors is a fan.
I covet the job of “Agricultural Storyline Editor”. Money for old rope.
They have not realised all the animals have died of their neglect many months or years ago.

They are concentrating on Alice not the bovines

My issue is choice.
Do the BBC have a Jazz channel - NO.
Do the BBC have a Blues channel - NO.
They do have 50 local radio stations!
Do they broadcast in flac - NO.

They have just taken £150 plus BBC Tax for another year and I have no choice.
I would prefer to subscribe to the Jazz Groove (that I listen to) and get 5 extra jazz channels in flac.

And today I learn the BBC are paying £275,000 (for 3 days a week) per year for a BBC Diversity Tsar.
So services are not their priority.
Do me a favour.
Give me a choice to get rid of this bloated, biased and useless mob.

Two more FLAC stations

Pop - Radio Kemonia (Naples, Italy) (flac)
URL http://kemoniastreaming2.net:8060/stream

Pop - XRadio NonStop (Netherlands) (flac)
URL http://stream06.dotpoint.nl:8050/8600-flac
(station is back again) UPDATE - it has gone again.

(PS not sure “pop” is what it used to be!).

If you don’t watch any live tv (from any provider) and don’t use bbc iplayer then you don’t need a licence. But you can still listen to radio.

Again I do not agree. I feel I am getting VFM and also that an independent broadcaster, with standards and a public good element, is actually more important in the current times. My children felt they did a really good job with schools on learning recently.
You obviously feel strongly that the dead weight cost is too high for you to bear and they are not delivering your particular wants. I don’t and I think they are not as inefficient as you think - it is very easy to say that about anything - stats here What does your TV Licence fee pay for? - TV Licensing ™ don’t suggest they are that bad.
If you don’t want to pay then why not ditch live tv and choose another service.

I’m have been unable to access Jazz.fm in Toronto since Monday (weekend changes?). When I use my iPad and go through their website, their stream plays normally.
I have reached out to vtuner support to ask if they see any change. They normally take a few days to respond.
Same issue on ND555 and Muso QB2.
Normally my go-to station, so getting to experiment with other stations.

Oh no it’s not !!!
Non-stop has stopped again.

On their website they are reporting " JAZZ.FM91 has recently switched service providers for our online stream and mobile app." BUT Not sure how recent the message is.
I can play it on URL https://jazzfm91.streamb.live/SB00009
(mp3/128)
Nice station.

Hi
Re jazz groove if I donate/subscribe will this be ad free via the Naim app radio or will I have to airplay via iPhone?
Thanks

My understanding is that you will have to use a modified unique URL that is supplied.
Can you add such a URL’s to your Naim App?
Steve did a test with a user a few months ago - maybe he can comment.

I would not want to use the Iphone/airplay option - that is what the Naim App is for.

I decided to bite the bullet and personally subscribe to the Jazz Groove.
As I am in UK (and already paid £157 BBC Tax) i went for the cheapest option of a one-off contribution of US$60. Note this option does not silence all the future fund drives.

However it gives me 5 channels (all in FLAC).

You need to access your account page (and audio Settings) to get the unique URLs (or PLSs) for each channel.
First - Select audio quality.

Second - Select the channel.

Third - Select the URL or playlist format.

Finally - Then copy and enter each unique channel URL into your Naim radio app (or in my case Serviio media server).
Seems good and will now have to explore the 3 extra channels.

Steve Can you advise users on adding stations to the Naim app.
I have now subscribed and you get unique stream URL (or playlist .pls) for each of the 5 channels.

JB Radio2 is back in flac (according to High Resolution Audio site).
URL http://malta1865.startdedicated.net:8888/metaflac
Still no website and no Facebook posting.

Flac sounds good but seems to stop after every track !
Also the aac-320 stream has stopped working now so all a bit of a mess.
UPDATE 25/0/2021: The flac stream was not working today - so seems very flaky.

I listen to a couple of local stations: WXPN from UPenn in Philly and WXPN 2. Also WRTI for jazz and of course from NYC WQXR one of the great classical radio stations.

An update on Jazz.fm.
As of today, all of their streams via vtuner have vanished. The main stream is still available via https://jazzfm91.streamb.live/SB00009 - MP3/128KB. Their other streams (The Grooveyard, Oscar Peterson, & High Standards) will hopefully return when the good folks at vtuner can find them.
Update: Oscar Peterson stream is https://jazzfm91.streamb.live/SB00023 - MP3/128KB
Update2: New channel - Respect (all vocal) is https://jazzfm91.streamb.live/SB00024 - MP3/128KB
Other channels (Grooveyard & High Standards are no longer).
