Best internet radio anyone?

Have you heard of radio calico? It’s another hi res from USA?

I came across it a while back (probably from the High-Resolution-Audio website) but it was mp3 then.
Have added the flac 24/48 link to my system - thanks for the info.
URL https://radio3.radio-calico.com:8443/calico
@Stevesky not on vTuner?

Can’t find it no

  1. The High-Resolution-Audio website is a good source of new radio stations mostly in flac and flac high res, and other radio station announcements.
Site is at [High Resolution Audio](https://www.hiresaudio DOT online/)
It is important to mention that new stations may come and go.
P.S. I have no connection with the website other than as a visitor.

  2. You might also like to check-out the SuperStereo stations. They have eight all in flac hi-res 24/96.
SuperStereo 1-6 are pop/rock, SuperStereo 7 is jazz and Superstereo 8 is soul/ballads.
UPDATE: SuperStereo 8 has closed down.
Not sure if they are on Naim radio and in what format. Perhaps @Stevesky can advise.
PureClassix (or Pure Classix) is another excellent flac station.

Today I have noticed drop-outs and station crashing on the Calico flac channel.
As my other flac hi-res stations are Ok, I do not suspect my Internet or local network as issues.

Maybe this is why I was using the mp3 channel on this station.

Boom Radio (who appear to be taking the BBC R2 listeners) also have a Boom Light Radio channel.
Update: The correct aac URL https://listen-boomradio.sharp-stream.com/65_boom_light_256_aac
Apparently it is not that new as I thought as Airable say they added it in July 2022.

They do show track metadata which BBC does not.

@Stevesky FYI
Also the best quality for their original Boom Radio channel is aac stream

ALR Jazz - Abaco Libros Y Cafe Radio (Cartagena, Colombia) is a nice easy-listening jazz station.
(search ALR).

@Stevesky seems not to be working on vtuner.

Satin Jazz - changed URL

URL https://quincy.torontocast.com:2725/stream
Discovered station is from NSW, Australia not from Canada that I had thought for a long while (maybe because it was on TorontoCast).

@Stevesky changed URL FYI

@Stevesky Seems to be a problem with all 8 SuperStereo stations on the base vTuner.
SuperStereo 1-4 are not working.
SuperStereo 5-8 are missing or never been added.

All are stable and in flac 24/96.

Perhaps other users can confirm which SuperStereo stations are currently available and working on Naim radio?

URLs are:
SuperStereo 1 (Santiago, Chile) (flac 24/96)
http://198.204.228.202:8160/flac

SuperStereo 2 (Santiago, Chile) (flac 24/96)
http://198.204.228.202:8157/flac

SuperStereo 3 (Santiago, Chile) (flac 24/96)
http://198.204.228.202:8539/flac

SuperStereo 4 (Santiago, Chile) (flac 24/96)
http://198.204.228.202:8030/flac

SuperStereo 5 (Santiago, Chile) (flac 24/96)
http://198.204.228.202:8643/canal1 (updated)

SuperStereo 6 (Santiago, Chile) (flac 24/96)
http://198.204.228.202:8157/flac6

SuperStereo 7 Jazz (Santiago, Chile) (flac 24/96)
http://198.204.228.202:8030/flac7

UPDATE: SuperStereo 8 has closed down.

That explains why SuperStereo 4 was not working for me yesterday. Have not tested the other ones.

Hi guys,

I was just checking out Superstereo 1-4 in the HIdef section. As of 17th Feb 23 they all seem to be playing ok and the addresses match @Paul_C post.

I’ll look into getting 5-8 added, as they have been stable for a while now.

Hi @Paul_C

Just catching up pn some vtuner fun:
Alr radio: That seems to be working now:
https://vtuner.com/setupapp/guide/asp/BrowseStations/dynampls.asp?id=45798&k=b54470e5277e0b8095091fd081d7f47ebd478f47569604a3d1b2ebe8ada651b5

SatinJazz - Vtuner has a listing with that name, but they have it identified in the USA. I agree on the Australia origin, I’ll go discuss with them to get that one ironed out.

Best

@Stevesky Did you pick up the Boom issues above in the long list!

As above, the URL has changed (still on TorontoCast but different server).
URL https://quincy.torontocast.com:2725/stream

Hi Paul,

ref: SatinJazz - spotted that already. In the last 2 weeks lots of stations using Torontocast have changed their URL as the provider was hacked and there was a large amount of data loss in the process that was not backed up. A few lessons to be learnt there…

Boom - yes. As VTuner have various customers and some on very old hardware they typically pick MP3 over AAC for compatibility. For now I prefer to keep broken links and missing stations on the agenda with them, rather than the luxury of improved URL’s.

Noted about mp3/aac.

@Stevesky There is also the Boom Light channel mentioned above which is missing?
mp3 stream for Boom Light is

There are an increasing number of Internet radio stations broadcasting in flac CD quality and High Res.
Some have been flagged in this topic previously.

The High Res Audio website has a list of these flac stations.
It includes a number of stations broadcasting Electronic and Dance music. This is not my type of music but other forum members may be interested.
see https://www.hiresaudio DOT online/cd-quality-internet-radio/

You can add them as custom stations if necessary for streamers that support flac.
(Suggest you try them in a browser first to check the links are still live.)

SuperStereo 5 stream was down

SuperStereo have confirmed to now use new URL
http://198.204.228.202:8511/canal1

@Stevesky FYI also

The Blues Connection ( part of OnAir Tunes) seems to be off-air and undergoing some sort of “update”.
It has been around since 1994 so hope it re-emerges but looks a bit bleak.

Hi @Paul_C,

SuperStereo 5 to 7 are now in the VTuner HD section.
SuperStereo 8 seems to be down at the moment and also removed from their website, so that one is in hidden status at the moment. If it comes back and its reliable we’ll enable it,

Best
