Put in your order for an ND555 (plus 2 x 555PS), Statement preamp & power amps, and a pair of Focal Grand Utopia speakers.

OK, I was joking about the speakers……….

The true story of the Chicken Gun.
Too funny not to share!
Sometimes it does take a rocket scientist!

Scientists at NASA built a gun specifically to launch standard 4 pound Dead chickens at the windshields of airliners, military jets and the Space Shuttle, all traveling at maximum velocity.

The idea is to simulate the Frequent incidents of collisions with airborne fowl to test the strength of The windshields.

British engineers heard about the gun and were eager to test it on the Windshields of their new high speed trains.

Arrangements were made, and A gun was sent to the British engineers.

WHEN THE GUN WAS FIRED, THE ENGINEERS STOOD SHOCKED AS THE CHICKEN HURLED OUT OF THE BARREL, CRASHED INTO THE SHATTERPROOF SHIELD, SMASHED IT TO SMITHEREENS, BLASTED THROUGH THE CONTROL CONSOLE, SNAPPED THE ENGINEER’S BACK-REST IN TWO, AND EMBEDDED ITSELF IN THE BACK WALL OF THE CABIN, LIKE AN ARROW SHOT FROM A BOW.

THE HORRIFIED BRITS SENT NASA THE DISASTROUS RESULTS OF THE EXPERIMENT, ALONG WITH THE DESIGNS OF THE WINDSHIELD AND BEGGED THE U.S SCIENTISTS FOR SUGGESTIONS.

NASA RESPONDED WITH A ONE-LINE MEMO–

“DEFROST THE CHICKEN.”
(TRUE STORY)

It’s interesting that there are two very similar version of that “true” story.

In the normal UK version, the chicken cannon was developed to test Concord’s windscreen and the Americans used it to smash an F15 canopy.

In the American version, NASA developed the chicken gun and the British used it to test the resistance of the windscreen of the HST against supersonic impacts.

Both are claimed to be true (even though one doesn’t actually make sense!)

And yet another apparently “true” story. NASA spent millions of dollars and several years developing a pen that could be used in a weightless environment. The Russians also faced a similar dilemma in their space program, but solved the issue cheaply and quickly…………by using a pencil!
True? I don’t know.

The problem with pencils in space (movie anyone?) is that when a bit of lead breaks off you have a piece of highly conductive graphite floating around in a zero gravity environment with all those electronics. Might not end well.

Shocking!!! :joy:

And then there’s the other version of the windscreen cannon story.

Having set everything up for the shot, including loading a non-frozen chicken, they then went for lunch. Returning from lunch they executed a successful shot with their non-frozen chicken, and the cat that had crawled down the barrel after a free meal.
