They did. I used to have one of those pens. Bought it when we were visiting NASA one summer. I could write with it upside down and it wouldn’t just quit inking after a while.

Geez … all that scientific engineering put into the NASA pen development and all they had to bloody do was call Papermate, or just pop into the local office supply and buy one. 
The original was Fisher Space pen…
Yes - I had one of them. Not nice to write with.
