Best modern jazz albums from 1969 to 2019

After 1977, some great albums to continue. But a bit more calm innovation ( to my opinion).

This thread rocks.
The treasures of a lifetime of musical exploration.
I just know there are going to be some absolute beauties in this lot.

Yes, David Allen’s Gong is mainly rock, but Pierre Moerlen’s Gong made the LP Gazeuze with Allen Holdsworth, which is jazz rock fusion. Gong’s best album for me.

Thanks Jim. It’s my selection indeed of my music exploration i begun in 1985. I hope we will share some albums here.
Jazz fusion or modern jazz mostly here. It’s a genre often criticized by jazz purists. The reason also is that 80% of this genre is a lot of crap or not inventive music.
Miles Davis is the most leader here, and he launched so many great artists : chick corea, john mc laughlin, herbie hancock, tony williams, dave liebman, mino cinelu, john scofield, mike stern, mtume, al foster, marilyn mazur, darryl jones, bill evans( sax), pete cosey…
