Carriage down

An adult Bald Eagle gliding low over a pond before turning away. The picture was taken from a distance of about 180 yards, hence the poor resolution.

I am having difficulties finding a more powerful lens to replace my Nikkor 300 mm (with acceptable optics, aperture, weight and price) so I see no other choice for the time being but train the eagles to fly closer.

Oh very nice, how long did you have to wait to get the sequence?

This appeared under the fir tree this afternoon. It has been very windy.

Presumably a wood pigeon or collared dove nest.

Another beautiful but plain bird, the dunnock

But it flew off

Sometimes the ‘plain’ ones are more interested in having their photo taken…

The American Kestrel was quite nimble, flying well, so I assumed that he was not hurt and his bloody face was on account of just bad manners, forgetting to wipe it after his latest meal.

Opened a window in the living room, and fired up my bird sounds recognition app. Blimey, great egret!

Thank you to whoever it was that recommended Merlin, it’s an excellent app.

My wife has recently loaded this app. It is fascinating and it is interesting what it can pick up.

Anybody know what this is.

And is it likely to take a small cat. My neighbours cat has gone missing.

Thanks.

Cats just turned up after being missing since yesterday morning.

Apparently she’s grounded.

…. that’s what cats do, they go missing for a few days, then when they do stroll back it looks like they wonder what all the fuss is about.

Spent a few days in North Norfolk at my dad’s house. Will probably be selling it once probate comes through so it was a nice chance to visit his old haunts (he was a keen birder)

Will post a few images as I get round to editing them.
