Brennenstuhl Mains Block vs Olson

I am going to be buying a new mains block; I have so many leads that need plugging in and I am sure my cheapo blocks aren’t good enough

I have come down to the UK made Olson products as they look extremely well built as well as the Brennenstuhl units

Does anyone own a Brennenstuhl that they could share what the inside looks like wiring wise?

The Olson looks impressive inside

Also have a look at Musicline Netzleiste. It uses Naim cable and are built by the German Naim distributor AFAIK. There is also a version that use Powerline.

Thanks Blackbird but I’m not looking to spend that sort of money

All I want is a well made block, nothing fancy, and I believe Olson UK fits the bill but if Brennenstuhl produce a well made block that would also suit my needs I’d certainly consider them also

It depends much on how the Brennenstuhl is wired internally but I can’t find any information

The Olson unit I am considering at about £120 shows some lovely internal wiring so no ‘buzz bars’ as I would call them… just very good wiring throughout

The Netzleiste is 80 EUR (70GBP) new where I live.

Unfortunately not readily available in the UK

I’m chatting to Olson about providing a 10 way angled power block with no switch or neon light but will come with a 2m mains cable

They are quoting about £130’ish for this

Watch this space

The netzleiste or netzleiste plus are hard to get. And when they are, it comes with great value.

I have 3x netzleiste, 1 netzleiste plus, 1x powerigel 6 and 1x powerigel plus 6.

They were all produced by the former distributor musicline.

@ninanina you might also look for Sean Jacob’s hydra. Brennstuhl are no so HiFi iirc.

New ones are even more rare - but they do come used sometimes. Plus version more rare

How do they compare with the UK made Olson blocks?

I’m currently chatting to Olson about supplying one of their blocks with no switch or neon light installed

The Olson’s look extremely well made and I love buying UK made items

We all do - even me from Germany.. But Germans can also do very well - kidding

I do not know the Olson. Netzleiste is nice as they are made of naim cables.

Unless I am mistaken, they seem to be several hundred euros?

Martin

The one with Powerline yes. The one with Naim standard cord no.

That’s what I noticed too Martinzero and I just can’t justify the expense

I think my Olson will be well made and fit the bill perfectly, Made in UK is a bonus

I had Olson modify one of their Hospital Grade units. No light, IEC socket in place of captive lead. Very sturdy, well made with quality components. Under 7 day delivery following drawing provision. I’ve been very pleased with it; using it with Furutech mains leads/connectors.

That’s good to hear simon

I’ve asked them for no switch, no neon light but captive lead of 2m

I have so many inputs needed… Tv, Virgin Box, sound bar, TP Link mesh, DVD/Blueray player, XS3 amp, Arcam cd player, Rega turntable, streamer.. if my maths is correct that’s 9 outlets that I need so I should have one spare

I’ve asked for their angled block x 10

Just placed my order with Olson direct for a 10 way unit with no switches or neon lights but will include a captive 2m mains cable

Don’t know the final price yet but will be about £140 I’m guessing

Fantastic company to deal with so far

The powerigel plus was very expensive… when they come used sometimes it’s mostly a good deal. Got mine for 1/5 of retail

Stanfard netzleiste was 50 euro when available in DE. Used they now go around 60. and they are damn good for the price.

I’m sure you are right drago but they are simply not easily available in the UK

I opted for Olson as they seem to have fantastic build quality and are made in the UK

Once it arrives I will give feedback

I’ve ordered the 10LH/N from Olson but with the neon light removed for, hopefully, a cleaner sound

Olson have been so good with their emails and responses; very impressive

All fine. They are not available at once - when you see one for a good price someday you can give it a try.
