British speakers, house sound?

That’s exactly the phrase I would use to describe my experience Harbeth 30.1 in my modest room. It left other speakers such as PMC Twenty5.22 and ATC SCM19 sounding lean in comparison.

That’s good news No-Quarter. Sorry, I don’t remember which model of Dynaudio it was - it was a long time ago. I think they would have been 2nd choice though if I remember correctly.

Thanks for that info Halloweenman, I have mentioned on the AVS Dynaudio forum that I plan on demoing 30.1’s, after hearing the P3esr’s. A few people chimed in saying they heard the 30.1’s, and one guy said they threw a wall of sound, but no soundstage accuracy or depth. He did say the only Harbeth speaker he liked was the P3’s, a few other people commented that they look cheap, but I personally love their look. I do look forward to hearing them myself, and drawing my own conclusions.Any forum you are on, you get plenty of opinions, and those opinions generally push you towards whatever the poster owns him/herself.

The 30.1 do image fairly well, but they also show off the associated equipment. There happens to be a forced air (heating vent) between my speakers. When I had 202/200 combo the height was restricted to that level - not compressed but not full size. When I switched to 282/250dr the soundstage greatly expanded and the height became much closer to normal positions. My own pair is in rosewood, which to me looks terrific and is a wood that is unlikely to bleach or fade if the sunlight is only on a portion of the speaker . Two skylights above made it a concern, but I also bought some white fabric to cover them - which I rarely do.

Absolutely.

I can only go from my own experiences. In found 30.1 had more depth than ATC SCM40, ATC SCM19, and PMC Twenty5.22. So much so in fact that it was reminiscent of when I demoed the Chord Dave and the increased depth it provided.

I have never listened to Dynaudio as they are all rear ported which is not good for my room. If it wasn’t for this then the Special Forty would have been on my list.

I find the Harbeth’s wood veneer and cabinet to be higher in quality than Proac and ATC.

@NO-QUARTER, I really feel the misce; my desires for a prompt, benign and complete recovery.

Cheers.
