Build Your Own Cables...!

Dear community users,
I tested a 180° 5 Pin Din cable that I usually used with a cd5 source.
I found out that all pins are wired and pin #2 is connected to the metal shield both sides. From searches on the forum, I notice that the pins involved in the signal are: 3L, 5R and 2 for ground. Why are the 4 e1 also wired? Maybe to be able to use it as a cable for Tape in/out? Thanks to whoever will answer.

If all 5 pins are wired, then potentially - yes.

Grazie IanRobert M, ipotizzavo. Quindi per un cavo IN, da jack 3,5 a din5 dovrebbe bastare usare i classici piedini 3,5,2. Hai provato a farlo? Devo collegare il dac con out jack 3,5 a naim amp.

English please @Enrico

Thanks IanRobert M, I was hypothesising. So for an IN, 3.5 to din5 jack cable it should be enough to use the classic 3,5,2 feet. Have you tried to do it? I need to connect the dac with 3.5 out jack to naim amp.

@Neilb1906 This might help. :+1:t2:

I own a two Stereo 3,5mm jack plug to 5 pin DIN lead, which is fully wired and can connect my Sony ProWalkman to any Naim pre amp DIN input. I have recently built another lead, which is single Stereo 3,5mm Jack Plug to 5 pin DIN (input pins), which allow an iPad or iPhone or similar to be connected to any Naim preamp DIN input. I also have a 5 pin DIN (output pins) to 2 Phono lead which can connect my Rega Ear headphone amp to any Naim 5 pin DIN output (so Tape socket, or similar).

So - yes, is the answer. You can have any combination, if you use the correct DIN pins.

Great news,
I’m going to start making connections right away. Thanks for the support and Skeptikal for translating

Result of an afternoon of work. It’s not my first self-made cable but soldering a din connector is different than an RCA. a real challenge, I am very satisfied. thank you in the community for the support.
