Best he answer that.
Haven’t seen a post from him for a while, Nov '20 - hope he’s alright.
Here is my (non) audiophile network stack, including:
- My NAS in the form of a RPI-4 without enclosure resting on it’s carboard box.
- The SSD is tucked away next to the modem in the back, but it’s not visible too well on this photo.
- Standard (free) Ethernet cables that came with the modem and router.
- 5 quid power brick to power the whole mess.
Everything sounds just fine, ofcourse.
Top job mate, just close the door, no-one will ever know.
I’m with you…in fact, I work on the principle that with a messy bundle of cables, you get the best error self-cancellation!
Warning. NSFW.
This is the back of the cabinet in the lounge next to the tv, so we have

Yes ensuring maximum entropy is the optimal path to thermal and electrical equilibrium!
…you got it…it’s called the entropy coupling buffer, the word entropy being used in it’s thermodynamic sense.
Thanks NeilB. I also confess. Far too many boxes and different cables acquired over many years. I’m not even sure what the white one on the floor is! In addition the optical between node 2i and Qutest is out of sight.
A beauty, all touching each other and on the floor!
Lovely
This thread is a very scary place for me, I’ve had a quick peep & was so upset I had to go to bed & cuddle my snuggle blanket.
I’m all OK now but need to see some comforting nice & tidy dressing pics.
How come the OP let you in to this thread?
You are way too tidy!
This is HERESY!
What about those of us who do give a toss but have singularly failed at cable dressing? Can we join in too?
Just too many boxes, most with multiple wires attached!
”The Situation” in January. On the right hand side of the system. Somewhat improved since then. But cables do what cables do…
Boo! boo! Mike, far too tidy.
Here’s how we have carefully laid out the power supply, signal, ethernet, aerial and optical cables for the TV, Cisco switch, EtherRegen, its linear power supply, Oppo, Virgin box, Audiostore music server and its LPS. Oh, and M Scaler & DAVE but they are powered from the posh MCRU extension block with the world’s largest ferrite clamp, so perhaps that doesn’t count.
Fortunately, the white radiator is hiding the NACA5 speaker cable, 2 fat mains cables and most of the orange fibre-optic cable, so this is the tidy view. It’s taken hours & hours:
When it takes three 4-way mains extension blocks, plus a hidden Musicworks 6-way block to power everything, one does start to wonder whether it’s all a bit too complicated…
Best regards, BF
Masterclass.
I feel your pain! Mine is 5 Naim boxes, Denon AV-Amp, Pioneer Blu-ray, X-box, Mini-mac, Router, 2 x powered switches, NAS, an external hard drive, a Sub-woofer, all the assembled speaker leads and the output to the TV!
He now has it all sorted going from his active 5552/500’s…and is now a happy Accuphase integrated owner.
