I’ve seen a vid of these tested on a youtube video and some people are going nuts over the alleged SQ improvements it makes.
I don’t know what it does but the alleged improvements weren’t subtle at all.
@Henryski,…I enjoy your entire post,.very wise comments, but here some answers
- My Cableoholic friend .
- No,.my Cableoholic friend .
- Unfortunately,.I have to disappoint you.
If you find the right synergy between a cable and amp.
Yes,.then only the cable (if it is a good cable),.can be like a box upgrade.
You pay for performance,.and I don’t defend any price-levels.
It may be perceived as absurd with a powercable for £7316:-…
As a Naim ND555 with two power-supply for £31591:-.
These are the price in Sweden.
•It’s my Cableoholic-friend who has a Entreq powercable,that costs £7319:-.
In my world,.it feels a bit to much for a powercable.
But it’s fun with a friend who has cables at this price-level.
Something completely different…
An familiar has a High-End store in Stockholm,.this picture is from one of his listening rooms.
A typical “Round Earth” installation.

Peder,
I like this picture and your cableholic friend is extremely fortunate to be able to afford such large sums of money on cables and hi-fi in general.
I think he has a problem though spending such large sums to find that golden hit of sound he is looking for.
It mirrors exactly the action of a drug addict looking for his next hit, never being happy with this one and always wanting the next one - so improving hi-fi can be very addictive indeed. You have to be aware of this as it could leave some people penniless, all for a little joy and seeking joy can be expensive.
You’re friend should listen to and ENJOY the music and not the hi-fi. MUSIC and other joys in life are there to be immersed into and enjoyed and to be experienced and not analyized, I doubt that he even enjoys the music, he enjoys his hi-fi even more - it should be the opposite.
Tell you’re friend to learn to meditate and to sit and experience the sound and to listen with his senses, listen with his body, his heart, his being - let the music wash over him and really come into him and be with him. and him be with it.
You don’t need a top of the line hi-fi to really enjoy the music.:
I know getting the right cables for this synergy can BE TRANSFORMATIONAL in a system as i’ve had similar results but i did 4 things at once to get such a result.
BUT the law of diminishing returns means the more you spend the less you will get and invariably end up being dissapointed UNLESS you have a near limitless amount of money like your friend has, i don’t think VFM comes into it with him. It’s all relative i guess!
It just seems such a waste having all these unused expensive cables lying unused in a box somewhere unless of course he demo’s the cables first and then returns them if not happy with the results. If he’s not gonna use them then send a couple of nice ones to me, i’ll gladly take them off his hands, i’ll even pay for the postage as well!
Yes,.this is good…Line Magnetic amp with 300B Western Electric valves.
I and a friend visited my Cableoholic-friend yesterday,we took with us some buns…and with some Zoégas coffee in the cups so we played music for a few hours.
•He had received a new “toy” from the United States,.and one more to come next week.
But he shall pick down the room next weekend for renovation,.so we took the opportunity to listen a bit this Saturday instead.
I’ve had many tube-amps over the years, and still have,.among other things Audion Silver Night 300B Single End monoblock.
But it’s always interesting to listen to…
300B Western Electric valves,.as we did with my Cableoholic-friend…They are good.
You who play most Jazz and Classical (but of course other music also),.you should definitely listen, and maybe have a tube-amp music-system.
It plays exceptionally well.
/Peder🙂
Have you heard the SQ improvements on these NCF boosters by Furutech. You can get them in iecs and fig of 8 plugs as well as cable lifting but the biggest inprovements are actually when they’re fitted just before the cdp or amp. I’ve no idea what’s in them but even on low quality you tube streams i thought i heard a discernable difference in SQ. This is right up your alley and i’d thought you would be all over this proclaiming it to all the world.
The power cable ones which stableize the iec going into the unit are rumoured to be the best!
@Peder, here a review for your cableholic friend. 27 power cables reviewed. Your friend will have a cable coma.

@frenchrooster,…Thanks .
I have posted this picture you see below before.
But yesterday,my Cableoholic-friend got his second “Boa constrictor” from the US,.the thick cable as you see in the picture.
This cable is quite grotesque when you see it in reality.
But I have to admit that it sounds incredibly good.
Frenchrooster,.I don’t know if I dare to show my Cableoholic-friend this review that you have sent .
But,.what I look forward to,it is to install his music-system once he has refurbished his room. He has asked me for help with it.
It will take a long time,.but I think it will play “cruelly good” when all is installed and ready.
It plays pretty well now as well,.but it is clearly heard that there are some errors in the installation.
•What will also take a lot of time,.is to match the right cable and power-cable to the right hifi-product etc.
But given the level of his cables,.this should be really, really fun.
/Peder🙂
Is that legal - the construction of that very thick cable looks to be on the limit of what would be acceptable from a certification point of view ?
Indeed. It must surely need some form of physical support at each end in order to avoid overloading each socket due to its weight.
Of course its not legal, conformance to all regulations & standards gets by-passed. In this looney toones world of cable obsessives, who cares if the house burns down just so long as the SQ is beyond perfection.
james_n,…There are much thicker cables than this one .
I think that Frenchrooster posted a picture of a really, really thick cable.
•I don’t think one should have a Naim Six-pack of 135-amps,.If you’re going to use this cable in the picture .
/Peder
it was that
@Bluesfan,…You can use these NCF boosters by Furutech,.(see picture below).
These we have been talked about earlier in the thread.
They are quite expensive,.so my Cableoholic-friend has found other solutions.
But this is actually not a problem,.even though the cable is thick.
But according to the Swedish distributor,.and various tests, the soundquality will be better with these NCF boosters by Furutech.
•I personally have no opinion,.then I haven’t tested these NCF boosters.
This is a borrowed image.
/Peder🙂
I’m surprised no-one has gone for busbars connecting direct - termination may be the problem, but not beyond the ingenuity surely…
Maybe more realistically, 10mm2 twin & earth cable is recommended for wiring from consumer unit to outlet, why not simply use the same cable to the electronics? It would be no less easy to use than some shown, maybe easier than some of the cables pictured.
An outrageous suggestion IB. Far to cheap.
I suspect that there may be something in the electrical safety standards about needing to use a flexible cable from the wall socket but this is just a small technical impediment next to the lack of expense…
Best regards, BF
Not sure that the regs insist on flexibility - but 10mm2 T&E may be more flexible than some things we’ve seen here, and probably lighter on the plugs. Busbars undoubtedly would need to be insulated, and moveabikity if the equipment might prove difficult!
@frenchrooster,. that’s really,really crazy.!!
I would never buy such a cable…I think . But still,.people who are at this cost level are hardly,.as we say in Sweden, some “stupid skulls”.
So obviously,.the cable contributes with something.
The question is,will it be better musically…Or just different.?
/Peder😁
I had an excellent sticky toffee pudding at the pub in Cerne Abbas. Worth mentioning…
@Adam.Meredith,…Hi,.I’m writing about it earlier in the thread, see the copied post below.
This is important to think about for soundquality, just as you say
"We use a torque-wrench when terminating the cables,.which means that we get the same Nm-value in all contacts.
If you pull a cable too tightly into the connector,it will be worse soundquality.
Therefore,.a torque-wrench is used when mounting the cable,so that we obtain the recommended Nm-value."
The two other posts,.I don’t really understand.
/Peder🙂
But the picture on my phone screen only tells 500 words… you need the information that the figure is 180ft tall to appreciate the scale and get the full 1000 words…
