I was considering M6 as part of my change from UK 3 pin to Schuko (I am in Schuko land so no safety concerns). However, I have been communicating with Sean Jacobs, initially to discuss power cable options for his power supplies and I am becoming more convinced of the benefits of a well made, hard wired distribution block, without multiple fuses and connection points. Other than being able to try different cables, what would be the advantage of a power block such as M6 and individual power cables vs a hard wired block?
Added another Sarum ti power cord to 552 instead my previous Naim power cordā¦got better soundā¦ I get more bass, now Iām thinking going even upper to chord musicā¦whatās your opinion?
I have hard wired.
No Fuse is illegal UK.
Taking out a set of connectors has to be better.
The only difference is the option to try yet more super cable upgrades off the shelf plug and play.
Have you considered hard wiring the leads to eliminate another 12 connections and 4 fuses? 3 pin connections at the wall and a single fuse is all you need, isnāt it, aka grahams hydra, SJ distribution block etc. or are they not legal in UK
Hydras are available but I wouldnāt use one Iāve seen the construction and itās a hard pass from me.
Thanks for the suggestion though I do get the possible advantages but itās constructing something acceptable.
I wonāt comment further if anyone is that interested they should be able to think for themselves.
I havenāt heard either yet. I was considering Sarum T with M6 but have begun to question the logic of a traditional block and 7 ( in my case) individual leads with 24 connection points plus the wall vs a hard wired distribution block. It seems a lot of work (and cost) in a traditional set up will go into eliminating the effects of having so many connections.
Having spoken to Sean (Jacobs) at some length a few years back I think the benefit of the hard wired block makes sense to me. The true test of course is a back to back vs a Chord M6/Chord Power Cable and see what the ears think. This maybe hard as I think Seans blocks are made to order. The cost difference if using Power Black would be significant thoughā¦
Your welcome itās the opposite of my suggestion so good luck.
That was the most to least noisy list.
Itās exactly in line with your suggestion Sir. Noisiest product nearest to the power inlet (left of the picture) and the PowerARAY placed on the recommendation of Chord themselves.
All good
Read again.
Source first and noisiest last I linked my original advice above.
You asked for a list noisiest first that was I told you but to connect it the way I first said.
The noisy list came later not an installation suggestion that was someone else.
Aura- Rad - NDX - SCDR - Gap ? - 300
As seen.
I think the advice got confused in translation.
Here is mine Cable entry on right then itās Rad - CDP - Gap - SN-3
. Just to confuse matters further I will throw in my preference with M6
From IEC inlet :
S1
500 P/S
Supercap( for Superline)
300 PS ( Solstice )
555P/S ( analogue)
555P/S ( digital) both those for my ND555. My Innuos Phoenix Net switch is in its own dedicated supply.
The PowerARAY I have plugged into a separate non Chord block in my hallway which has my Router, EE8 switch and Core plugged into it.
That can only work with a system identical to yours.
You could be right
Rather than buying all these over the top expensive mains filters, and what ever. Just get a balanced supply transformer fitted on your hifi radial.
About Ā£500 to buy depending on load.
Good by mains noise guaranteed.
Was at the audio show at Whittlebury hall, and chord attended this. The guy spotted me looking at these as i hadnāt seen them before, after he explained what they did, and i told him i had a balanced mains supply, he quickly said, probably not for you then, and started talking to another guy.
I just walked away.
I just followed the advice I got from Chordā¦ā¦it workedā¦.
ā¦ā¦ā¦The main Ground ARAYs for each of the power rails and the earth line are situated nearest to the power inlet socket and we would generally recommend the devices which generate the largest amount of High frequency noise are plugged in nearest to this end.
The smaller ARAYs are situated at the opposite end of the PowerHAUS.
Placing the Power ARAY in between the two ānoisiestā components power feeds is likely to deliver optimal performance
Glad youāre happy thatās all that counts.
Should have asked them first.
I find it really confusing they give opposite recommendation for both of the blocks they do.
The inner topology of the two blocks are different Skep. I feel that the M6 is the better piece of kit and does a great job whatever order we plug the components into it .
I appreciate your enthusiasm but Iām just confused as to why someone would ask for advice then post to thank me for it and do the very opposite.
After saying he followed my advice that wasnāt.
Every product has a punter but Iād bet it would have been far better for them not to have the extra IEC connection in the mix but then they couldnāt upsell more fancy mains cables.
Being happy is the āmain ā thing pun intended.
In reply to your first paragraph. Itās a forum thing and happens all the time
