Chord powerhouse m6 or S6

My hope is everyone in Europe gets all these Chord Powerhaus questions sorted out so when they are released in North America I won’t have to ask. :star_struck:

I have a MCRU “The First’ cable supplying my M6, and their No77 cables supplying my 282 & Hicap (with Powerlines to sources). It’s completely cured the intermittent ‘hum’ in my system and the combination sound great.

My M6 is fed by a Chord Signature X and I have no complaints. It was a step up from the Epic that I had when it was on home trial.

My home trial started with an Epic, which certainly enabled the M6 to demonstrate its effectiveness. However, exchanging the Epic for a Sarum T revealed a lot more. Replacing that with a Music was immense and that’s what I ended up with.

Question about optimum socket order in a M6 to maximise noise reduction.

My current configuration is:

Socket 1 (nearest the mains cable) = Naim Power Line to NDX

Socket 2 = Naim Power Line to NAP 300DR

Socket 3 = Naim Power Line to Supercap DR

Socket 4 = Chord Signature Aray to Linn Klimax Radikal 2

Socket 5 = Rega power chord to Rega Aura phono stage.

Socket 6 = empty

What would you change? Is this the best layout?

Chord PowerARAY in the empty socket? Anyone here using them?

I would do in order of source.
5
4
1
3
Gap
2
but leave a gap before the power amp.

Thank you……but……could you be a bit more specific as I’m finding it ambiguous to interpret that advice. Sorry.

Socket 1 (nearest power lead) =
2?
3?
4?
5?
6?

Sorry.
Source first what you have in the numbers I’ve used would be 123456
Leaving a gap before the power amp ie not use socket 5.
Hope that makes sense. :scream:

So are you saying?...from 1 to 6……

Aura
Radikal
NDX
Supercap
Gap
300

That’s the one.
Yes I’m in a different situation as my Radikal has my Urika with it so goes first but that’s my idea. :+1:t2:

The advice from Chord, specifically wrt the M6 (the S6 is the opposite), is to plug the “noisiest” component in socket 1, next noisiest into 2 etc. The source first approach is suited to the S6.

So how would that apply to my configuration Dave?
How would you plug in my 5 items? I’m not schooled on the science of what the noisiest items of my 5 are🙁 Advice appreciated.

I’m soon to get a home demo trial of the PowerARAY to try in the blank socket (wherever that may be?) so that will add to the mix I guess?

Opposite info for each strip.
I smell :poop:
I’d never change from what I do purest power to the weakest and most source component the noisy amp can get what’s left.
Not just my logic for over 40 years. :+1:t2:

I’ll try both options and report back. (Maybe I won’t be able to tell the difference🤷‍♂️)

Our hobby consumes us to hidden depths of discovery doesn’t it?:grinning:

Like I said, with the S6 you can do that, however all the power array stuff, which is specific to the M6, is at the input end.

But, hey, you found a better solution so it won’t impact upon you.

Your right it won’t. :+1:t2:

Which are the noisiest components in my setup Dave?

300DR?
SCDR?
Radikal?
NDX?
Aura?

Sorry for my ignorance- I just don’t know this level of detail :slightly_frowning_face:

300DR
SCDR
NDX
Radikal
Aura
Most to least from the top.
Opposite of what I said first time.
That’s me done now best of luck.
