I think this is a very good addition , and a sign that Naim are listening to their customers.

Naim have dropped the ball with the quality of their remotes in my view. The plastic bricks they supply with the Uniti and New Classics are poor, and the Muso things are the cheapest, flimsiest things I’ve ever seen. I hope the 102 remote if better made than that!

I am just pleased to see a very basic remote . I just want to able to change from A to B without an App .
I look the super remote on my UnitiQute and the lack of remote of my ND5XS2.
I am going to restructure my system into 2 and I think the UnitiQute will probably survive to the new flat. The ND5XS2 won’t

New remote looks great, just the necessary functions. I wonder if it works with other products….I’m not a fan of the Uniti remote - sharp edges which i’m scared to ding and not very ergonomic to hold, and the plastic looks like it will scratch easily with use. I don’t use it regularly as maybe I will want to upgrade in the future and sell it.
However, the illumination and zigbee technology are fantastic.

I like it enormously, thoroughly professional. It is the lack of remote on the ND5XS2 I don’t like.
I have a BlueSound Node on order and even that can have a remote if you scour eBay
I don’t like the shiny plastic look, it shows fingerprints and scratches easily, there have been problems with some of the buttons not working properly, it doesn’t sit nicely in your hand like the 1st gen remotes did, it chews batteries much faster than an IR remote, it controls fewer functions that the old ones.
I leave mine in the box and just use the app, which you need anyway to operate the streamer.

Ah ok makes sense. I don’t have a Naim streamer. I use the remote for the 332. Agree it shows minor scratches and fingerprints but I really like it. Has the buttons I need and only those buttons - very simple. Handles well. No issues with batteries not lasting or buttons not working.

Any remote for a unit that begs control is better than no remote at all surely. My Sony TV that retails above the price of the 102 has a cheap as chips remote that does the business without flaw, it’s used for about 1% or less of the time of the TV and shows no significant signs of wear. Not sure what the expectation is in this price bracket?

Looks like a welcome accessory! A clean, minimalist remote with just the basic, necessary functions. 
I do wonder though… how can you see the volume level ? I mean, the CI-102 doesn’t have a display or a physical volume knob.

Yes agreed, what I find annoying is the button lay out, I use radio presets a lot and it’s a real awkward finger stretch to select the presets top left when holding it normally, if it was swopped with the home button for example it would be much more ergonomic. Also aesthetically it should be a lot better at the price point of the 333 for example, at least the 555 got a snazzier remote but they shouldn’t be that exclusive
You’ve got to love these threads. Ian starts it off by saying what a nice idea it is to have a remote for the 102, which rapidly turns into people slagging off the other remotes. Can we never be happy?
I have a 555 to operate my Atom HE, and I think it’s great. So there.

Well considering you bought the 555 remote you obviously prefer it to the one that came with the Atom or the Nova or NDX2 that you had previously, why not stick with the original remotes? Anyway, it’s great the 102 is getting a remote.

I’ve tried a number of remotes with my Nait 50 and none of them seem to work very well. Very frustrating. For the money they should have included one in the box.

It’s worse than that, maybe I should speculate that this maybe the new owners starting to show an influence ?
Taking a well received product and making it a lot more sellable with a few tweaks ? Maybe the Star Lite is also their influence ?

PS It is the wonderful thing about these threads , that they meander like a conversation does in real life

Sure, but the app can fullfill that role. Something most people have on them anyway and lies well in the hand. (Or I presume one wouldn’t have bought that specific device model).
The Uniti remotes, are ugly, gigantic and don’t lie well in the hand. The Mu-so remote may be flimsy and cheap, but ergonomically I actually prefer it. If it would have worked, I might have used that. The Uniti remote sits in a drawer unused.
Based on the above image, this remote looks to be a good improvement on both.
