BBC’s weather forecast for Sunday looks OK-ish, with cloud, breeze and low % chance of rain.

Broad’s knock was entertaining in that I think Holder lost the plot with his bowling & fielding selections.

I’m hoping England can clean up the WI and enforce the follow-on but I suspect this won’t happen (but not by much).

Yesterday was the first when I felt that the W Indies were getting ragged and England consistently on top. Broad’s typically impish innings a real game changer I think.

Let’s hope a good night’s sleep refreshes the WI.
However, it did not work for me as my neighbours had a party. Oh I might be hung over too …

Great non catch by Pope - a real stunner.
And great 5 for to Broad - plenty of life in the old dog yet.

197 all out
A massive 6 fer 31 for Broad - an old dog with a big bite

Eng start 2nd innings on 172 fer none

Dropping (not resting) Broad for the first match looking like a masterstroke!

Oh dear, just looked a WX for tomorrow, heavy rain until 14:00, then thunder showers
Looks like the Wisden Trophy is going back to the Caribbean

That doesn’t look good, I’ll never complain about winter again.

A year ago yesterday we had 38.7’C
This year its mid July & so called high summer, 16’C on Tuesday, welcome to the North Atlantic

We’re in the middle a big East Coast Low it’s been windy and raining all day, but it still got to 16c

Eng lead by 314 (fer 9)
When will they declare ??? give the Windies an hour of mayhem tonite ???
Tomorrow (day 4) is 99% sure a washout, so can they bowl them out in a day on Tuesday ???
Tuesday WX is for 15’C overcast & moderate breeze

Any locals have a view for the weather f/cast today at OT?

The BBC suggests modest chance of rain until c.lunchtime and then should be OK(ish!) with cloud thereafter.

Looking a tall order to get 8 wickets in perhaps only equivalent of ~2 sessions, with the ump’s light meters working overtime(?)

I’m 25 miles or so East, just the far side of the Pennines. Looking West I can’t see the tops of the hills 3 miles away, so it’s very dark over that way. . It’s cloudy but bright here, a short shower just blew through. Wind is very strong, so weather will blow through rapidly, could see patches of play between showers I reckon,

Going back to my earlier post (~158), with the hindsight of the current match conditions (slow pitch/bit of swing & seam - as expected), I’d have liked to see Curran preferred to Archer.

When looking at England’s bowling resources it’s easy to see why we struggle in Aus, where the wickets are quicker and the ball does a lot less. And I don’t think Archer & Wood appear to be the answer to this challenge.

In English conditions the qualities of the likes of Broad & Anderson shine out but not on the ‘flat tracks’ down-under. Broad’s delivery which got Campbell in the WI’s 2nd innings was a peach (great slow-mo’s). Modest swing, seam slightly askew and stable in flight, quite full, with movement away post pitching.

Pete - see above.

Morning perhaps dodgy and could be uncertain later (for cricketing purposes). A case of turn on and see.

Here’s the BBC WX for Old Trafford, loooks like it might have a spot or two, maybe not. Whatever it’ll soon blow through.

Ok guys, 8 wickets in 3 sessions. Doable?

I recon its doable in 2,
If they loose a few cheaply this morning … batting against a brisk chilly breeze blowing across the line, some movement in the air … its possible.

That forecast wouldn’t cheer them up either, top temp 15c

Congrats to Stuart Broad 500 test wickets
He got Brathwaite lbw for 19.
I do believe Brathwaite was the victim with Jimmy Anderson joined the 500 club
