Brook is a bit special.

4th ODI at Lord’s. Turned in to an old JPL game, with only 39 overs per side (assuming all bowled).

England have done well – well worth a squint at the highlights (no spoilers).

Will post later.

Archer looking like he is coming back to his best level. If only he can get strong enough to play Tests again.

Brilliant performance from England who have turned things round.
Is Brook a better captain in the limited overs game than Buttler?

One of life’s great pleasures:

Watching Stark going for 28 off his last over.

Watched the 50 over final (reduced to a T20) , perhaps it is time to think of changing white ball to pink ball.

So much better against a white English sky or an IPL nighttime or against a deep blue sky it probably makes no difference

I remember being at Lords for the fifty over final - packed , this year less than one seat in a hundred occupied.

Bit of a dusting over night, didn’t get to see it and I don’t think I’ll be rushing to see the highlights.

Look forward to the fifth and final game.

It’s good that the match will be almost in October and if Lords and Durham are anything to go by , there will be a good crowd

Pretty complete performance. Carse has bowled well in the last two matches and Brook has been great but others are coming to the party. Just occasionally Livingstone gets it right-awesome.

Not sure Brook is a better captain than Buttler, he still chases the ball a bit in the field, but I’d rather Buttler played as captain and batter only. Smith can stay as keeper.

Australia for a change looked a bit toothless and lacking variety with the ball. Steve Smith is appearing a bit fallible too…is time catching up with him?

The last match tomorrow, cross fingers for decent weather. Yesterday’s 39 overs was enough to make it more than a quick thrash.

Agree re Buttler – leaving Smith to 'keep. Teasing question is does Root offer a greater contribution than an erratic Jacks, given there’s plentiful firepower down the order – with Livingstone at best 6, and used as and when a whack is needed?

Sadly, given the time of year the weather may not be particularly helpful. Just seen the forecast and rain moving in tomorrow from the south west. But it’s nicely poised :+1:

It was played on the reserve day, Monday, which would have reduced the turnout to virtually nothing.

I dont think Root will play white ball again.

Buttler for Salt, Jacks I’m not sure but in the absence of another good spinner alongside Rashid he probably stays as an option.

Thank you, I picked it up by chance last night and was a bit baffled by it , awful weather, good for Glamorgan and Gloucester in the white ball game.

I’d prefer Root to Jacks. Root is so good he can adapt to the situation. I’ve not been overly impressed with Jacks and I’m sure the opposition would rather it wasn’t Root at three.

Assuming there is no reserve day, I wonder if they will try and get a 20 over game in today before the rain or deliberately plough into frustration.

What’s the forecast?

11am start might be OK, but after about 2pm very poor with wind and rain.

I don’t think they can agree to try a 20 over match from the start, which may just be possible. 50 overs looks very, very unlikely.

It would make sense, but would the terms of ticket issue allow it ?

Trescothick is in an anorak, Buttler has a beanie on , Steve Smith has pullover and hands deep in pockets

Matches with Australia should not be taking place two days before October .
