Naim amplication deserve some serious loudspeakers, such as Kudos, Neat, Naim, ATC, Ophidian, PMC, to name a few.

Define ‘old’; the Unitis were released nearly a decade ago, even that was after a huge delay, and two of the original four products are now discontinued. Not that it really matters - either they can hold their own against the competition, or they can’t.
Not entirely, Rega doing fine with brilliant integrated amplifiers, priced very fair.
There’s a few other very interesting amps made in Europe, Heed, PMC, Leema amo comes to mind, not cheap though.
I’d pick a Rega anyday over Chinese - Naim will hopefully release a new range of integrated amps, interesting what price level they choose. Their NC amps just had a price adjust downwards, being too expensive at release. I’m sure the’re’s a market for a revised Supernait. Its already on test bench and just a matter of months before release (my crystal ball)

Fair point on Rega. I’ve had 2 Rega 3’s over the last 40 years.
I’m a big fan of the kit, the company and the ethos. Roy Gandy is one of the real good guys on the planet (no pun intended

However, the Chinese seem to be able to sell a full-function streaming-amp, that by most accounts sounds brilliant, for less than five hundred squids, which is crazy cheap.
At that price I might buy one for my study with my Iotas for background music.
I sold my 7-year old Atom (with no HDMI) for more than double that!
If I was an 18-year old now, I’d be saving my Sainsbury’s Saturday job cash up for a WiiM, not a Rega.
*Which reminds me, I must put ‘A Vibrating
Measurement Machine’ on my birthday book list!

Forgive the edit, but this is my second Rega 3 when I was 21 or 22, I sold the first one (Lustre s-shaped arm) to go travelling.
It must be the second one as it has the RB300 arm (plus I had a NAD 3020 with the first one) - time does strange things to the mind. 
I took this picture in my bedroom with my Nikon EM 35mm film camera.
Rega 3, Creek CAS4040 (IIRC) and an Aurex PCX-60 AD, and AR18LS…. Incredible system.

Do we expect something new from Naim any time soon?
What’s desperately needed is a total revamp of their international distribution and servicing network. The last owners completely wrecked what they had and I know first-hand that many long-time experienced dealers couldn’t work with the new outfit, so dropped Naim altogether. Many regions now have limited dealers, servicing, and experience. Naim can put out all the new products they like, but without an excellent distribution network in what are difficult times, they’ll struggle to sell.

Win Win with the Wim? I doubt.
Why? Beautifully built, great streaming software, equally good app, touchscreen, twin class D amps, 100w per channel and stupidly cheap.
What’s not to like?

For a first time buyer on a budget, say a student, you have very good quality access to a huge collection of music, just add speakers.
An Atom is likely to be MUCH better, but at 4+ times the money… which is a big deal if you don’t have it!

Precisely. After acquiring my Nova I sold my Amp Ultra in order to keep the Atom, but I was lucky enough to be able to afford to. I doubt kids would even consider an Atom over a Wiim, let alone (non-audiophile) older buyers with average disposable income.

I have a Wiim Pro ($150). I only use it if I need to stream Airplay2 (rarely). I tried it in front of my DAC as a streamer. It really sounds like crap compared to using my DAC without it. It’s as if someone threw a carpet over my speakers.
But for $150 I’m not really expecting better. The only time I need Airplay2 is if I want to stream something to my hifi from YouTube running on my laptop.

Mines a Pro plus and I use it into my Chord Qutest. I did try it direct into the Nait 50 before the Qutest arrived, but never again since then. I wouldn’t call it crap but it’s not in the same league as the Chord. But then I’m not a cash-constrained youngster.

Like I said, I wasn’t expecting much out of it, and it didn’t disappoint in that regard.
I get excellent performance out of my DAC alone. It exposes Roon and Qobuz Connect service endpoints with an ethernet input, and completely eliminates need for a streamer on the front end, as long as Roon, QC (and UPnP) are all one needs.
I didn’t even try the DAC of the WiiM. Just the streamer section alone into my DAC, and that has pretty poor performance, IMO.
I agree it can be just fine for a cash-strapped youngster, but I consider it more mid-fi than hi-fi.

The Atom on the other hand is a great bit of kit for the price, if one can afford it.
If I needed to, I could happily live with it as my main source of music, endgame. But if I was skint…
Naim is a great firm, great people, great support, great serviceability, great backwards compatibility, great longevity of equipment, great history. Long may she go on!
