English Premier League Season 2023/24

The Summer transfer window opens tomorrow and many of our teams Pre Season preparations open in the next few weeks, so hopefully there will be lots to discuss with the comings and goings in the EPL.

I have named this thread the English Premier League Season as I believe @mikehughescq wants to start his own thread discussing the goings on in the other English and Scottish Football Leagues so without further ado let’s kick things off with the biggest transfer story of the Summer Declan Rice’s imminent move from European Conference Champions West Ham United.

If the press are to be believed he is going to my club Arsenal but as we learnt in January with the sale of Mykhailo Mudryk to Chelsea the press are not always correct so where will he go?

Why would he go from a team that wins things, to a team that are losers ?..

Thanks for opening a thread where we can banter without being moaned at…:grinning: :+1:

Seriously, Rice to Arsenal makes a lot of sense from Arsenal’s view. That would be a very strong midfield, creatively.

I would guess, Man Utd or Liverpool. Chelsea are a mess, Arsenal have a very promising young team, but would West Ham want to sell to a London Club.

He is good enough for Man City but would they be able to buy him with the fair trade rules?

Tottenham have enough trouble holding on to Kane and ( sorry to any Spurs fans) just aren’t regular trophy winners

Newcastle could outbid them all (assuming that Rice is going anywhere).

Chelsea top four in 23/24.

I called our miserable season last year before the first day, convinced this year will be better.

Only the press are still linking Rice with a move to Stamford Bridge. We’ve got our own yoofs to bring on and they should get a shout under Poch. And his best mate is heading North.

Other midfielders are being brought in, from Brighton, Italy and Spain. Though apparently we’re getting rid of both keepers, so if Declan can sport a sexy pair of outsize gloves he could make it in.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Kane made a move over mind. He probably won’t, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

Bayern have apparently pulled out of the race for Declan Rice and Chelsea are buying Mbappe :flushed:

Absolutely no way Mbappe is coming to Chelsea!

Unless the Saudis are paying us £200M for Lukaku, Kante and Aubamgayangayang.

It was tongue in cheek Mbappe will go to Real on a free next Summer.

I thought Mbappe was going to Wrexham. Or is it Inter Miami?

Grauniad reporting that West Ham have declined Arsenals £80m offer for Rice and are expecting Citeh to make an offer. In other news, Arsenal now sniffing around Kai Havertz. As Grauniad puts it

Not that I’m enthusiastic about him but look at him player for BL in the Bundesliga another young creatively brilliant player stifled by Chelsea.

Agree that Chelsea not the right team for him. Or any other player last season

FFS - second to bottom already. MOYES OUT!

I’d argue that. I like Kai, he can be incredibly fluid on the ball but really he’s been given enough chances in different positions and fluffs his lines in front of goal too often. You can have him for £70m…

I suspect he’s more stifled by the Premier League defences.

Fixture list is out. Ours looks a lot kinder than last season’s start and finish.

I’m sure Poch is looking forward to our opening game against fellow strugglers Liverpool :slightly_smiling_face:

So, the Arse put in a bid for Rice… £80m over SIX (yes, six) years plus £10m in add-ons if they [Arsenal] won the PL or CL. Jokers!

Such a paltry offer that even the porn dwarf and Brady turned it down…
