Heavily stuffed by Liverpool’s second team yesterday provides a bit of a reality check for us. Mind you, 1-0 up at half time I was pretty much in dreamland - which is where I think the team were in the second half. Shame. We will soon be hitting the ‘will we or won’t we’ part of the season.
Great kit too Kev.
Absolute class.
I am biased of course but I think we where incredible for 45 minutes and made Newcastle look ordinary.
Disappointed with not keeping a clean sheet but we have now scored 25 goals in 6 games and have conceded only 3 keeping pressure on the top two.
The Toon were very poor today, especially in the first half when most of the team looked like they were still having their pre match meal and wandering round the buffet table. Not to take away from Arsenal who we were very good, especially in the 1st half. To be honest, I was glad we kept the score down to just 4 but I do think we should have pressured Odegaard more after his early yellow card.
Nice to see Joe Willock back though, our midfield has been running on fumes for weeks now and as good as Miley will undoubtedly become, its a bit much to expect a 17yr old to start so many games. Willock showed in a brief spell what he brings to the team.
luckily for us our run in from here on in is not that bad so if we can get a couple more of the injured back fully fit I think we could still have a good chance at a European place. Let’s be honest Man Utd were very poor today so they are catchable.
Going to be a good race down the stretch though between City, LiverPool and Arsenal
It was so one sided I switched it off and listened to some Leonard Cohen.
More cheerful than the Newcastle dressing room
Congratulations to Crystal Palace they’re looking better under Oli Glasner.
And also congratulations to the Magpies on their first goal at the Emirates since 2014 hopefully it’s another 10 years until they do it again.
Cheers Bob - I was at the match with my bezzie @Endon and it was a brilliant atmosphere. Although TBH Burnley were p*ss poor and if we couldn’t beat them when they were down to 10 men then we really would be in trouble! Our new players are doing well and I think the 19 yr old Adam Wharton is going to be something special

As Liverpool’s team on the pitch got younger Poch took his team into its shell rather than going for it & paid the price. I believe Poch has a reputation for failing to win trophies despite being an excellent coach. Easy to see why as he wasted extra time.
Chelsea are beginning to realise what happens, as are Bayern Munich when you get infected by the Spursy virus. Nil trophy’s!
10/10 to Klopp’s management skills and 10/10 to Liverpool for the academy players
Great to see the policy around the juniors too regarding the wages and approach to managing their lives (no flash cars etc,) i.e. keeping them grounded – although, doubtless, some human rights lawyer would object!
Overall, it was a pretty poor quality game to my eyes, with various fluffed chances - BUT, the big difference was the youngsters. When Chelsea’s subs came on I thought they would pressure more and use their legs/supposed skills. Instead, they were scared of 1 on 1s, bizarre.
I know climbing the steps at (old) Wembley was the crescendo, but yesterday’s traipsing about behind the scenes looked more comical – why not do on the pitch?
Like Arsenal the future at Liverpool regarding academy players looks bright.
I don’t believe my feelings about the current Chelsea set up or the majority of our performances over the last couple of years are a secret!
I do believe if we benched Enzo, Caicedo and didn’t bother with Mudryk at all, then although the pitch would be £280M lighter we would be a better team.
Yes. It was a specific requirement of the new Wembley that you’d still have the steps and presentation in the stands. But the new route is totally comical and pointless. On the pitch definitely better !
Everton points deduction reduced to 6 points. Shakes things up in the bottom 6. Though there’s a second points hearing still to come?
Creating room for another small points deduction without relegating them, one of the ‘traditional’ big clubs? Forest can’t take a deduction though so it will be interesting to see how their charges pan out.
