I would bet £1 Yuki will damage the car

How about a £1 that he will qualify in the top 8?

I’d be surprised if he adapts that quickly.
What I can’t comprehend is that chose Lawson for a reason, One I couldn’t see, and after one wet race and a single practise session before qualifying before a sprint race and then qualifying for a main race, very difficult to say the least against Max and then the original reason of signing him is no longer valid. Very strange behaviour.

Peter Windsor has an interesting video on the subject, from after the Chinese GP, but when it was still just rumour. He says he doesn’t understand why he was signed, but it must have been something other than his driving.

He doesn’t say Lawson’s not talented BTW, but that his driving style doesn’t suit the car and he doesn’t seem to adapt. Interestingly he also wonders if the Racing Bull is actually the better car and that even Verstappen would do better in that one.

I might be totally off-based but possibility of Lawson’s wider marketability to get a new sponsor is higher than a little Yuki.

I think Yuki’s somewhat explosive temper is what cost him an earlier chance at Red Bull.
He often gets agitated with his engineers and is not calm.

Thanks God for drivers like Yuki! I love drivers with a bit of character  I hope he is going to do well, next to Max.

A Japanese driver paired with an alpha driver. I am getting flashbacks of Nakajima and Senna.
I hope Yuki fares better against Max.

um.. but all drivers exhibit the same reaction under stress. I think it’s somewhat comical cuz we rarely see japanese cursing!
Then again I remember this…

I think they read the riot act to Yuki and told him to stop venting and swearing over team radio. He has calmed down a bit

Apparently they are looking at V10 or V8 again according to this - yeah! (or is it an April fool)

No, it’s not an April fools.
A lot of the teams are actively asking the FIA to look into dropping the hybrid engines completely.
This is all down to cost really, but also down to the weight and size of the cars. From the FIA’s perspective though, it could mean that some engine manufacturers will simply walk away from F1.

Horner has now admitted that they promoted two previous RB drivers too soon: Gasly and Albon.

It is being reported that part of the reason for Lawson’s move to the junior team so soon in the season was that some engineers were expressing concern about how he was coping.

Horner is now also saying the team need to develop a car that someone other than Max can drive fast enough to be close to the front of the grid.

How many years has it taken Horner and Marko to work this out? It is good to see Albon and Gasly thriving in other teams, and I hope Lawson does, too.

Hopefully, for Yuki’s sake, he will fare better because he gets a proper chance to demonstrate that he can.

He won’t do that again!!

"Alpine’s Jack Doohan suffered a high-speed crash as Friday practice at the Japanese Grand Prix was punctuated by four red-flag stoppages.

The Australian was uninjured in the crash, which was caused because Doohan failed to shut the DRS overtaking aid, which meant the car had less grip than he expected as he entered the 160mph first corner."

Rookie error that shouldn’t happen at this level.

Incredible qualifying result. Max in a class of 1.
In Probably the fourth quickest car. Amazing.

Alonso’s smile and reaction says it all:

Amazing qualifying, amazing lap.

Also good to see that while he didn’t get through to Q1, and qualified behind Lawson, there was some promise in Tsunoda’s performance. It’s the first time in almost a year that both RedBulls made it out of Q1.
