Yep, Ross Brawns prognostications of many years ago, about reducing aero-issues, which would lead to more (outright) overtaking et al. All that happened was that some manu’s developed cars which bounced like a drunken Tigger, and some still do it seems when they get set-up wrong.
Drivers will have to be strategic about when to deploy the power and when to recharge. A more extreme version of today’s tire management. I’m hoping this will increase the influence of the driver vs just the car compared to this season and result in more of mix of drivers/teams at the front. But I guess we’ll have to see if it will indeed pan out that way, or the doom predicted by you and @MidnightRambler. I find it hard to predict.
I do find it funny that MotoGP has realised aero is killing the close racing and is reducing it …. Seems pretty simple way to me to have better racing. It sometimes feels like F1 likes to make the teams spend money !
A major issue with the ‘bikes is that close (rubbin!) racing renders fragile aero parts as highly dangerous. I think the Dukes found this out a few years ago.
More wings = more retail space.
One front wing element + one rear wing = 2 Advertising spots.
Imagine if only there was far greater surface area with dozens of wings, winglets, aero rakes, flow directors etc. on any one car, how much more advertising revenue would be generated…But that would be a bit cynical.
If F1 cars had to go over jumps, think of all that floor space for adverts……
That is a brilliant idea. “F1: Sponsored by Hotwheels”.
Adrian Newey has just been announced as Team Principal for Aston Martin. I didn’t see that coming.
Nope me neither, it also kills off the rumour that Newey and Horner could/would work together.
That can happen now if they use up all the boost from the MGU-K (electric motor unit). The V6 petrol engine will be similar to this year but will have a larger MGU-K power output, 350kw about 3 times this years power of 120kw.
This year the teams/driver has to manage energy deployment. The power train next year is a ramping up of the electrical component of the hybrid system that has been in place since 2014.
An interesting article in The Race about the Newey news. There is some scepticism about how wise this move is, and wondering how he will fit in the Team Principal (TP) role and time demands, whilst doing his current role. I am now wondering if we might see a deputy TP being appointed before the next season starts.
Adrian will need a tea boy.
No tea boy’s permitted here, one must be politically correct at all times, therefore the term tea person should be used.
(I prefer the non sexist term ‘Gofer’, a term that Mr H will be familiar with after being at home with Mrs H for a few months).

And he gave his old team mate a tour of the factory under cover of the night according to BBC Sport.
“…Newey is said to have given his former Red Bull colleague a tour of the Aston Martin factory under cover of darkness on Tuesday night.”
Lawrence Stroll has now told Aston Martin employees that he won’t hire Horner.
Meanwhile, on the track, the season continues to entertain.
Shame he didn’t tell them he wouldn’t hire Lance Stroll…
There seems to be four F1 GPs on the Arabian Peninsular which has a relatively small population and the races seem to have the lowest attendances of the year. When you think of some of the countries that don’t have GPs it is a bit sad. All about £££$$$ I guess.
So, which genius at McLaren is losing their job in the morning?
This might prove interesting, can the MV hards last, my money says they can.
I think LN migh have a problem with the car, he slowing towards MV.
Looks like OP and LN have called it quits.
All to play for in Abu Dhabi
