A bit of Easter fun - it might fly but hey ho. This is prompted by hearing No More Drama by Mary J Blige on 6Music and remembering what a fantastic performance she did on Jools. I love it when an artist puts their everything into a song. Feel free to post, hopefully with videos. I have a very long short list!
Another totally committed performance on Jools. One Armed Scissor by At The Drive In. Worth it alone for the look on Robbie Williams face at the end
This is very difficult but for me it was a lady that came in as a replacement for another act- the lady in question was LP and both her songs were just so different. She deserved to be better known in my opinion.
I always remember discovering Metronomy there.
For me, that show wasn’t about individual performance as much as discovering new and interesting artists.
Over the years there have been many discoveries.
I tend to remember and enjoy performances of The Old Grey Whistle Test more than Jools for some reason.
My favourite performance has got to be Arthur Lee in 2003. (was it really 23 yeas ago).
After that I went to every UK tour. Basically same material always a top notch performance.
I used to like the way they all used to jam at the beginning of the show.
This for me was the greatest moment on Jools Holland.
Oh yes and old Jools can’t interview for a toffee.
I think jools these days is a bit past its sell by date.
Seems to be full of old acts that just don’t cut it anymore.
Used to love the show and the many new people he brought to the fire.
Have seen him love many times and always enjoy when Ruby Turner sings.
I agree that old grey whistle test was great, as indeed is bbc live lounge
Ah this is what I mean at the end Joe Strummer says come on Tracy join in.
