It wasn’t Sally Stephenson who founded The Chord Company?
Or, it’s not the same company as that being discussed above?

Alpha audio indeed hear differences in cables. They do not believe in “just grab a simple copper chord and be done with”. What they do is also to measure the cables to see if they can see anything that correspond to what they hear. And most often they do. You can also find discussions on YouTube with Oephi and others where he explains his findings and thoughts. It’s not as simple as some might think designing a good sounding cable and it might very well be lots of trial and error to get it right. What I like with alpha audio is their curiosity and being open minded to that there might be things in cable designs that are tough to measure but which our ears can decode. Our ears and brain are still better and more complex than measurement systems out there. I have worked with 3D audio for example and not even with 100 super skilled engineers you can simulate real life 3D. It’s getting better indeed but if you start to dig deep into ears, ear canal, brain interpretation on acoustic signals you will realise how complex audio is and how challenging it is to measure it.
Sally married Alan Gibb who is the guy in the video.
According to companies house Alan Gibb resigned in 2024.
Sally has gone from there too.
Looks like there has been changes last year.
Actually FR, in this case I consider that the view you have expressed may be out of date or based on incorrect information. Have you taken a look yet at the Alpha Audio website mentioned on this thread by Blackbird? There you will find descriptions of ‘ears based listening’ tests of different cables provided together with the associated electrical measurements that were undertaken.
All hugely informative and an excellent resource - if in some places the explanations are a little naive.
Sorry, I was asking if it is the same Chord Company under discussion that was founded by Paul Stephenson’s wife, Sally.
I wasn’t referring to who the current staff members are.
It is interesting that it is her ex-husband in the video, though. I did not know that.
I would be interested in @ryder , the OP, thoughts. As he is not responding since many days, I doubt he is still enthusiastic about these kind of no going anywhere discussions.
It’s her new husband in the video.
Sally and Paul split and Sally and Alan formed the chord company.
That’s the confusion when people say Chord made Naim cables.
Science has not yet learnt to measure all that needs to be measured which affects sound. For example, how does one measure timbre?
2. Measurements are meaningless.
3. Forget fancy graphs and measurements. You do not listen to squiggly lines do you?
4. Music must touch the heart. And the soul. It should move you even if it is jarring. And it will if you buy this. And nothing else matters.
5. Silver cables are bright sounding in my system. Because silver is shiny, shiny! Also, they should be stranded. In the jungle!
6. His measuring equipment is not resolving enough to determine the difference in cables.
7. His measuring equipment is using the stock power cord. He will at least hear the noise floor drop if he uses aftermarket power cords
Perhaps you misread my post?
I didn’t say Chord made cables for Naim?
What I eluded to is that perhaps we were lucky that Naim continued to develop their own cables at all, considering that Paul Stephensons wife took on making cables to connect non Naim equipment.
It could have developed into a scenario whereby they would take on the manufacturing of Naim cables, too.
And given the comments on the above video, that may not have transpired to be an advantageous development for us.
It was a tongue in cheek remark.
Perhaps I was too subtle or succinct. It just saved a lot of typing!

There have certainly been changes at Chord, the website gives a short history of starting.
Alan Gibb is now listed as brand ambassador, nobody seems to have replaced Nigel Finn as technical director since he retired. In an interview recorded on the TomTom website he says ghat he had found no one fascinated by cables.
The current management seem to have been involved for many years. Possibly the direction has changed?
Hi
There are only two names on companies house now.
The most recent departure was Alan Gibb 29/07/2024.
Didn’t they do well. ![]()
I followed alpha audio before….when ears were used to test components.
The most interesting, I have even created the thread on it:
GRIMM MU1 / MOLA MOLA dac vs NAIM ND555
It’s fine if discussion on measurements is on this thread or the other one. I’m not really interested in measurements and my impressions are all based on listening.
In my system, online streaming is the primary source. The first stage in the signal path is the Ethernet cable, which already imparts its own sound signature to the overall audio. I can clearly recognize this when swapping between Nordost, Crystal, Siltech, AudioQuest, Furutech, or Neotech cables.
Which Ethernet cable do you use?
Currently, I’m using the Crystal Da Vinci with my main system (EMM Labs DV2i), the Siltech Royal Single Crown with my secondary system (dCS Rossini Apex), and the AudioQuest Diamond with my desktop computer.
Hi @frenchrooster , glad to see you back on form on the forum (in various other threads).
I was getting a bit worried for you as your recent postings here on this thread suggested that you had been very disappointed in Alpha Audio moving from ears based evaluation over to THE DARK SIDE of measurement! I mean they are using REW and acoustic panels and diffusers and other stuff.
I was actually quite worried that were in some state of shock.
Good to see you again😁 on other threads.
Don’t be worried. The richness of life is the diversity of characters and interests.
That looks remarkably similar to mains cable……Or am I mistaken?
