Firmware 3.12 Artwork issue - NDX2 not showing cover art from Uniti-Serve SSD

I had the Unitserve before, with AIFF files. I had artworks. But not with Wav.

You should have seen artwork with WAVs using the Unitiserve, but this is a specific issue which seems to be between the Unitiserve when it serves WAVs, and the 2nd gen streamers that have had the recent 3.12 update. Yes, as a temporary (or even permanent) workaround you could use a different format: it’s fine with FLAC, but I haven’t tried any other formats.

The artworks with WAV was present before the latest firmware update. Naim brought the issue with the firmware, they should be able to solve it.

The US is not proposing to rip CD in AIFF if i’m not wrong.

Correct, you can only rip to WAV or FLAC, but you can store and serve other formats including AIFF.

You can transcode your entire library in AIFF. But you can wait too

“We are not aware of any firmware issues that might be causing artwork not to display; however, it would be good to get an album folder from your customer so that we can test it with a server and NDX2 locally. It could indeed be a bug we are not aware of, or it could be something within the customer’s metadata which is disagreeable with the serve”.

This contradicts what you were told. Why do I get the feeling that we are being given the runaround and that Naim aren’t taking this problem seriously….

Tell them that @Ophelia looked at it and has logged it.

Quick update on this. After being advised that Naim is “not aware of any firmware issues that might be causing artwork not to display”, I was asked to submit an album folder that could be tested with a server and NDX2 locally, as it could be a bug they are not aware of, or something within my metadata which is disagreeable with the serve.

I supplied an album folder as requested, a video showing the exact problem (including that the art is displayed when playing directly from my NAS), and pointed them to this thread, highlighting that @mickroberts, @Lister, and @ChrisSU are having the same issue. I also pointed out that Ophelia on Naim’s software team was aware of the issue and had logged it.

Anyway, it looks like they have finally recognised that there is an issue that needs fixing…

Their description of the issue there is wrong. It doesn’t affect New Classic streamers, only 2nd gen. Classic and Uniti models. There’s no mention of the fact that it is specific to Unitiserve WAVs.

It’s about right @ChrisSU though for an issue which someone who doesn’t understand it at all (the dealer) is explaining to someone who didn’t believe there was an issue, but now isn’t sure (the busy Naim support person) and they are in different time zones communicating by email. It would probably be very helpful to everyone if you were to email what you just said here to Naim support!

Naim seem to have turned this into a game of Chinese whispers, but as Ophelia has reproduced it and logged it as needing a fix, I think it will get sorted sooner or later.
